the princess is NOT "instant loss". there's an instant moment of hope and victory followed by prolonged, thorough, and vigorous, deep, heavy, sweaty, aching sweet hard and desperate, transfigurative and irreparable, everything but instant, loss.
And besides, by that limp and quivering drooling empty dazed sore satisfied look on her face, she certainly doesn't count it as a defeat either
for her maids there is this long trembling thrashing tantrum to enjoy as she struggles with the dawning realization that she's powerless. for the princess, there is the serenity and freedom that comes finally (and exceptionally messily) from that understanding, that she has a fundamentally important and inherent use.
