well, i’m glad you asked! it’s used for sensing psychic energy, and also allows them to use their powers. it’s connected to their heart, and is somewhat soft to the touch.
yk how mega gardevoir has a differently shaped heart piece? that’s actually what it looks like when it opens. gardevoir has to open its heart piece to mega evolve, but it can also do this outside of mega evolution. opening the heart piece makes them much more receptive to psychic energy. they’ll be much more powerful than normal, but while in this state, they’re also extra sensitive to the moods of people around them. no matter how calm the gardevoir was before, if their trainer starts to get anxious during a battle, they can flinch or freeze.
while it is closed, the heart piece is a bit bothersome to deal with due to its positioning and shape. it’s also quite sensitive, so it’s not comfortable for them to have it pressed up against something either. because of this, they will often open their heart piece while hugging someone they trust deeply.
having the heart piece open also makes it much easier to form or strengthen a bond. if your bond with the gardevoir is strong enough, it can allow you to communicate telepathically with them, even over very long distances. they’ll be able to pick up on it if you’re scared or in danger, and you’ll be able to sense their condition and mood as well (even if you have no psychic capabilities yourself). but first, it has to be established and strengthened.
forming a bond is a highly intimate experience. i’ve found that the best way to do this is to lay side by side with the gardevoir (preferably in a comfortable place e.g. a bed), eyes closed, chests pressed closely together. if their heart piece is closer to your own heart, it makes it easier for them to “link up” with you. even better if you’re also cuddling them.
breathe deeply and slowly. it isn’t necessary to have a completely clear mind, but you must be very calm for this to work. focus on their presence entirely, try to sense their aura & be open to any incoming psychic energy.
soon, you will feel something “anchor” deep in your soul. this is how you know the bond has been solidified.
you might start getting turned on during the bonding process. this is normal. don’t try to hide how you feel - even without a bond, gardevoir are highly perceptive, and they’ll pick up on it immediately. once the bond is established, having sex will help further strengthen it. this will be most effective if you are very slow and gentle with each other, allowing your pleasure to build and maintain without reaching the point of climaxing. eventually, you fall into a semi-trance state. the outside world feels hazy and far away, as though the two of you are in a dimension of your own. if done properly, it can last for a few hours.
if they trust you enough, they might even let you touch their heart piece. you have to be very gentle, but if you do it just right, it apparently feels really good to them…
