Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen has an uncommon menu, at first glance more interesting than the average Thai restaurant. The menu is limited, concentrating on Thai comfort foods. Its name implies the specific regional cooking of Isan (Isarn). Isarn is a great addition to downtown Kirkland. The ambiance and food speak volumes about this authentic Thai restaurant. While dining I enjoyed an appetizer called, Mieng Kham, Northern Thai Leaf Cup Nibble. This was a unique dish that had a burst of flavors in every bite. The dish included wild betel leaves, chopped limes, peanuts, ginger shallots, roasted coconut, and chilies that were wrapped served with a caramelized sweet sauce. For my second course I dove right in and ordered, Phad Mee Krati, Isarn Noodles with Coconut Milk. This dish included stir fried thin rice noodles with a peanut creamy coconut curry base, with the addition of minced pork, onion and tofu. This was an Isarn classic and was deliciously tasteful and extremely authentic to Thai cuisine. Although the food was impeccable the serving size for the price wasn’t up to par. Dishes run anywhere from $12-$18 with an extensive custom drink menu. The service was spot on and I felt extremely welcomed from the moment I arrived. Great atmosphere and a very unique design makes it one of a kind and a must visit destination next time dining out in the Kirkland area. Restaurant Rating : 4 out of 5 Stars
