I just really need some positivity. This is absolutely insane and it’s gotten out of control so quickly. I didn’t feel the need to explain to this crazy person in my IMs that my main fc IS a poc bc I knew she was a bully, so I just blocked her, and now for WEEKS apparently, she has been preaching to people that I’m not only racist, but now I’m abusive, too. This fandom is fucking insane, and tbh I don’t think I can stay here if it houses this many antisemites. Like I just can’t deal with it, and I shouldn’t have to.

If you guys weren’t aware that I was being bullied by the raving antisemite known as @ironrevive, now you know. She’s insisting that all my Jewish faceclaims are white and that I’m racist for having Zhang Ziyi as an alt. fc. She’s even submitted an anon to another popular rper about this in order to get them to call me out, and she won’t stop. This is why I haven’t been here. My family hasn’t gone through all the racist shit we’ve been through so some bigoted asshole who has taken issue with my friend could slander me over the internet.

@tonnashine Kendra! I think you’re one of the few who has been following me since I started this blog two years ago. I remember that we started interacting all the way back then when I still had my Loki blog. Most of our RPs take place over Discord/Skype nowadays but I still love our interactions, nevermind if in our out of character.

@summermiko Mikki! The reason why I have this muse and url name in the first place. You and your floofball muse were totally the reason why I created this blog back then and to be honest you were probably the only one who knew in what kind of Tony hell they entered when they followed this blog.

I feel like I have been involved in so much “drama” lately that it kind of makes me sick, and I know I’ve lost a number of followers for it, and maybe this will lose me more, but I feel like I have to address this issue for my followers and for my partners. Over the last few days, I have been targeted by a very popular asoiaf rp blog, who is telling people that I am racist trash for having Zhang Ziyi as an alternate faceclaim on this blog. This rper has accused me of treating ethnicity “like an accessory” and is informing people that I “use it as a switch whenever she feels like writing as a poc version of her character” and this person seems insanely determined to convince others to call me out for this, so I feel the need to defend myself. This accusation is INCORRECT for three reasons:

First and foremost, just like myself, my primary faceclaim for this blog is ETHNICALLY JEWISH and therefore also a person of color, making 2/3 of my fcs for this blog people of color like myself. As I am sure many of you know, Judaism is not just a religion, but also a culture and ethnicity. Jews trace our ethnic background not only by matrilineal descent, but also tribally, as different tribes or ethnic subgroups have different cultural practices such as divergences in language and tradition. Judaism is also recognized by the United States govt as an ethnicity in order to prosecute hate crimes. Just because someone can pass as white does not make them white, and insisting that Jennifer Connelly is white is a form of whitewashing that attempts to strip her of her ethnic and cultural identity. 

My verse with Zhang Ziyi as the faceclaim is NOT the same as my default verse. I don’t often write with duplicates of a character, but when I do, I write them in separate universes and my verse with Zhang Ziyi is specifically for @lordparamountofthenorth, who writes Ned as an Asian man. I wanted to lend support to this idea, and I wanted Lyanna to have not only this background in common with her brother, but it is also important to me to have Lyanna look like the brother who gave up everything to defend her honor and protect her son. I have not developed a whole lot of this verse because it’s super new and I just started a full time job that takes up a lot of my time, which brings me to reason 3. 

I have only recently started to play around with introducing real world cultures as influences on the Northern culture that GRRM has created. Northman is a fictional ethnicity, which means that it really could take on an influence by any culture and be portrayed by actors of any given ethnicity. I recognize that ethnicity and culture of course do not exist in a vacuum, but I had not developed Zhang Ziyi’s influence for two reasons:             A. Firstly, I used Memoirs of a Geisha as my icon source in order to keep Lyanna’s eyes canonically grey. I very strictly adhere to canon and only add on where GRRM has left holes that can be filled. My icons show Zhang Ziyi in a Japanese costume and in a Japanese setting, and while I did take a year of Japanese and have much more experience with Japanese polytheism and medieval cultural practices, I also believe that Asian peoples are not interchangeable and I was concerned about developing Japanese influences with a Chinese faceclaim. I have been in the process of discussing this ooc with my icon artist and good friend over at @pocresourcing, who is Chinese and made me my icons of Zhang Ziyi in full support of my using her as an alternate faceclaim for Lyanna. It is a delicate cultural issue which I would like to give due time and consideration before I write a post about it. In the meantime, my portrayal of Zhang Ziyi’s Lyanna is much more soft spoken and reserved, very formal, and has a larger focus on principles of honor native to both Japanese and Chinese medieval societies.           B. I would also like to discuss more with my Ned their concept of an Asian influenced North, as they were the inspiration behind this narrative choice. But, simply put, I have not had the time to develop any of this or even begin this conversation with Ned due to my very demanding work schedule. 

I would also like to point out that when I made my accuser aware of the fact that I was a person of color and did not have time to argue this because I was at work at the time she confronted me, that she told me my experience as a person of color was irrelevant and that what I was doing was not okay. I since blocked her due to her involvement in unrelated drama, but it seems that she is intent on persecuting me for this perceived slight, so I thought it best to address it publicly in order to let my followers and partners know that I would never treat someone’s ethnicity so lightly and that I understand and recognize the importance of ethnic identity even in fictional worlds.
