âIf youâre sure. How did it happen?â
âI just wasnât looking where I was going.â
mattmonroevstheworld:
âThatâ sounds great, yeah.â
âAwesome.â
guardianspike:
â⊠I got you ice cream.â
â... Thank you.â
âOuch. I hope that doesnât hurt as bad as it looks.â
âItâs just a bump. Iâll be okay.â
mattmonroevstheworld:
âMhm.â
âDid you want to go get food?â
emilyypark:
âEveryone thinks that. Thatâs why everyone is staying inside at night, why everyone is so paranoid. Because they think that someone actually has a reason to kill them. Pretty self centered, if you ask me.â
âI never thought about it like that.â
emilyypark:
âDo you think someone will try and kill you? You think youâre that important?â
âI donât think anyone thinks that.â
guardianspike:
âIâll do my best. But youâre my first concern.â
âOkay.â
emilyypark:
âAre you scared?â
âYouâd be weird not to be scared.â
emilyypark:
âRemember when people actually did fun things? You know, before all this murder stuff made life boring as hell.â
âPeople died. I donât see how that made things boring. People are scared.â
Nerves
ericfisk:
Eric read the books title, nodding his head thoughtfully. It wasnât one heâd read, but that was hardly surprising; he wasnât much of a reader. When he heard her reasoning for reading, his smile widened. âReally? Thatâs awesome, Niven! Congratulations, seriously.â It was good to see her happy, especially with everything going on.
âUh, Iâm just, yâknow, hanging in there. I got a roommate, kind of?â
Niven blushed a bright pink when Eric congratulated her on her new relationship. Her first relationship, first friend, everything came with Grace. She felt so lucky to have met the girl in her life, despite everything else going on in her chaotic life. âThank you, Eric,â she replied, smiling. âThank you. Iâm just trying to figure out what you do in relationships now. I donât even know. Do you?â
She listened, wondering what qualified as a âkind ofâ roommate. Was it like Chris and Spike? How they kind of just invaded her space? âDo you like your roommate?â
Nerves
ericfisk:
Eric was relieved when Niven didnât push the matter, didnât ask anything further. He didnât want to lie to her, but he didnât want to put her in danger, either. It was the same reason he wouldnât tell Samson who killed Dom.
He laughed as she patted his shoulder. âThanks, Niven,â he said. He wasnât really sure he believed that, but he wasnât going to argue with a compliment, either. âWhat are you up to?â
She shrugged in answer to what she was up to. âNothing, really, Iâm just reading a book,â Niven answered truthfully, holding up the teenage romance novel. âI kinda needed pointers. I guess I⊠have someone Iâm dating now.â  She left out the fact that she had a girlfriend rather than a boyfriend, not sure how anyone was going to take that news. She hadnât even told her parents before they departed that she liked more than just boys.
âWhat are you up to? Other than hurting yourself?â
guardianspike:
âPromise. And ⊠Grace too. Provided I can find her.â
âThank you, Spike. I really, really donât want anyone to get hurt. Especially her.â
guardianspike:
âIf I could only take one person out, itâd be you, alright? And the minute I find a way, Iâll take you. Promise.â
âOkay. If you promise. And if youâll get Grace out of here too.â
guardianspike:
âLook, Iâve got this fucking phone. Iâve got two, actually, this oneâs Krzysâs. Do you have a phone? Iâll take your number. And - Iâll give you the magic word to say. When you say it, Iâll hear you, wherever you are, and Iâll come back, even if I have to leave my body behind to do it, yeah?â

âCanât you just find a way to get us all out of here? Wouldnât that be so much easier?â
guardianspike:
âHey, hey, itâs alright, I promise. This was a long time ago, sweetheart. No oneâs going to hurt you now. I wonât let them. Câmere, you know I wouldnât let anything happen to you, right?â
âWhat if you miss it? What if something happens when youâre not around?â
guardianspike:
âRozaâs brother, I think, based on his fucking driverâs license. Or used to be, anyway. Shit. Fuck! Sorry, itâs just - I know my charges fuck-fudging die, but I try to keep them from getting fucking-fudging murdered. Unless he shot himself, which seems unlikely considering where I found the fudging bullet.â
âAnother person got murdered? This â No. Can you please get me out of this town, Spike? Iâm scared. I donât want to die.â
