Frigga and Thor have always been probably the only ones that matter the most to Loki. However, from the way he smiles at being referred to as "my son" it's clear he, too, wanted Odin's paternal care the way Thor always received.
The ache was there but Frigga and Thor's love was enough to compensate for it. Nonetheless, there were times when he felt like they didn't love him as unconditionally as he did (and still does), that he wasn't worthy of their love, that was when his depression set in. The chaos he caused, what he termed as "I've had to" was probably an outlet for him to let go of all the frustration and hurt. He never enjoyed doing all that. He just didn't know how to express himself at that time.
Beneath all the mischief, drama, rage and chaos, Loki is just an emotionally wrecked being who wants only love and affection from the people who matter to him the most. He certainly is more sinned against than sinning.
Those who love him truly and unconditionally, know it very well. Their love for Loki and unwavering faith in him remain forever unchanged.
Loki finally realises it wholeheartedly and centuries' worth of pain, despair, and heartbreak and transform into relieved ecstasy, made subtle by lingering agony of remorse at the turn of the events. His expressions solely convey millions of things.
Last but not least, his file doesn't end with the traumatic "neck snap" but with Thor hugging him and pouring his heart out.
Despite everything, the sun will shine on both of them. Again. Loki would do everything to make sure of it.
