Nix The Light

X grumbled a little when Nix broken the hug, because excuse you, that was a nice moment but ok, yeah, that was important too.

“Sacha’s with my kids. She-” X gave a sad little huff of ‘laughter’. “Well, saying that she 'missed you’ is like how we were telling her you were 'sick’.”

X adjusted his hold on the elf, just to make sure he wasn’t smothering Gage. “Poor little thing was inconsolable.”

Nix chuckles softly. “You better go make her day Gage.” he smiles a bit. “Lost I can add this world to your portal marker later on. I need to get some new parts for it so it might take some time anyways.” Goes over and gives them both a big hug. “I missed you both and I will try my best to be around more often. But I’m enjoying a more calmer life... I like it. No more fighting wars I don’t need too.”

Nix just sweatdrops a bit and sighs softly. “Eve I think we are going to need a mop.” He walks a bit closer to be in Gage’s line of sight. “You really did go over board with your random poking at shit you didn’t need to… I’m just glad the defrag was able to get the virus out and sort your functions out. I’ll give you a hug after we can get X to let go…. might be three weeks though…” He chuckled lightly.

He was honestly glad it worked, though… he wondered what they might do with that crystal that was used to hold the virus and broken code bits.

“Well, I don’t know about a mop right now but..” Eve had crawled under her desk while the happy reunion began to retrieve the crystal, sliding out from under it to hold it up. “I know this bad boy can be stored in a jar now along with your fairy collection.” Getting herself up off the floor to locate a jar anyway to pop it into, setting it onto the desk. “You guys are more than welcome to camp out in here but I have six babies to go to and a daughter to… “Pausing to check the time. “Collect from kindergarten.”

Oh, gods, was he safe? Somehow he himself couldn’t seem to shake this feeling this was just a really hopeful dream. A dream where he could see and be in control of his own thoughts and actions and–

Oh, gods.

He hadn’t SEEN anyone in YEARS much less his friends. His eyes glittered with tears and he cursed the fact that they were blocking his newfound sight, littering his vision with a smoke screen of refracting energy. Gage would probably never believe this were actually real.

X felt real and that was the only thing keeping him grounded in the current moment. It… had to be real. He had to be back or this was the cruelest joke he’d ever have the displeasure of experiencing.

“You guys did it…” He remembered fractions of everything that’d transpired. Virus managed to fragment any information that pertained to their time together during his occupancy. The defrag placed him in the unusual position of having holes here and there whenever he thought about it. Still. They did it.

They actually saved him.

He could have been lost forever inside of himself, but they managed to do it.

Method behind the madness aside, Gage couldn’t be happier. Just watch him sob onto X and nod a few times to acknowledge Nix was probably in the room somewhere… saying something? The words hardly filtered in. “Thank you, thank you. I think I can explain what happened…”

For now, he hugs and sobs.

X was too busy pulling Gage from the pod to notice how fast the tears evaporated, leaving a dull grey stain that seemed to fade before the eyes of an observer almost as quickly.

Well, on the upside of that bit of weirdness, it seemed a mop wouldn’t be necessary.

He gave a nod of farewell of Eve before burying his face in Gage’s still-braided hair- oh, they’d have to fix that soon.

Oh. Oh har-dee-har-har, Nix. You’re being pulled into a group hug for that verbal jab.

“No rush,” X murmured into the elf’s hair. “Take your time.”

Nix laughs lightly and hugs them both. “Well I think, Lost you might want to take Gage to go see the kids. I’m sure they will be happy to see them.” He pulls out of the hug though, sorry lost he has some work still to do.

He goes and picks up the jar with the crystal before walking back over. “Gage, this crystal has your broken data and possibly that Virus in it. I think you should keep it. You can decide what to do with it in time.”

Nix nods and smiles a bit. “That’s good Let’s head there so he doesn’t wake up alone.” He noticed Lost’s look and tone and reached out to put his hand on his friends shoulder. “He’ll be fine. Come on, we can all give him a hug before we yell at him.”

Eve turned around to head into the room, straight to the computer desk to get the pod to open up ready for Gage to wake up. “We’ve done this many times before, even to new people. Just like the time dad powered down from an energy leak from a loose wire~” Oops..

Leviathan hummed to himself, pocketing his hands temporarily while backing up a few steps. “You guys go ahead. I just need a minute.”

X turned to look at Nix. “…We’ll talk about it later.” Regarding that ‘energy leak’. He carefully snagged the hand on his shoulder to pull Nix along into the room.

He approached the pod cautiously, with Nix in tow. While he wanted to go closer, X held himself back. No need to scare Gage right away, especially after all that trauma.

At the first sign of movement from the elf, however, X spoke up, his voice concerned yet hopeful. “Gage?”

Gage had been in a weird, unusual stasis since the unfortunate event of Virus snap, crackle and popping himself into submission. Once the initial break happened, Gage and Virus were stuck dealing with each other in the dark, trying to figure out what the fuck happened and who’s fault was what.

Over time, Gage realized… Virus’s voice had gotten quieter, despite his words being more panicked towards his fading presence. All at once, Virus had disappeared and Gage was left alone with nothing but deafening silence and a worry no time would ever sate.

Eventually came the precious time for him to awake anew once more. Hopefully without a trace of the virus program lingering inside of him at all… Once could hope.

His eyes softly fluttered open a hair, his head turning slightly as he groaned. God, he felt groggy as though he’d slept for two weeks without a moment to rise, and god damn this place was fucking bright to his tired eyes…

Wait. Bright?

“…I’m…” His hands gingerly moved up to brace his head, himself feeling rather faint despite it all, but a good type of faint as there followed a sudden rush of excitement. He looked about ready to cry out of either confusion or relief or ANYTHING.

God, he was alive. He was still him. He wasn’t destroyed and… Everyone had cared enough to help him. It made his heart ache happily. Lavender eyes found their way to X first, softening as he bit back the tears he so desperately desired to let loose.

“X, you look tired…” The instant reply was soft, almost too soft as his vocal processing system were just waking up freshly and had yet to work the static kinks out. ‘I’m sorry’ lingered in his tone as he crookedly smiled.

It was Gage. 100%, unfiltered Gage.

It’s Gage.

Its Gage, it’s him he’s back he’s safe, safe sąf́e҉ s̴͜a̛f̶͟͡e̶͡ s҉҉̷á̧f̵̷͢͜͝e̷̢̕͘ s̸͇͢a̸̸͕̮̣̟̻f̣̮̣̦͘è̠̰̹͕̦̥̝̀͡ -

X dropped Nix’s hand, a broken sob breaking loose from his throat a moment later.

His knees shook, and he stumbled forward, catching himself on the rim of the pod before scooping Gage up in his other arm.

“Gage.”

His voice was tired, but so, so happy. So full of every minute of that near-week of work, of endless effort, all in the name of saving the elf from the parasite.

“Gage.”

Large, dark tears budded in his eyes, then let loose and streamed down his face over the face-mask, into his shirt.

Well, good luck prying X loose, he’s not gonna budge without a fight.

Nix sighs a bit and shakes his head a bit. “I think they will able to deal with boys with out me.” He smiles a bit and heads out so they can have snack time. Lost would have some gears to snack on from Nix’s repair kit if he wanted something but Nix wasn’t going to make him.

Simple chats and catching up was good for everyone. Nix would fill Lost in on his new home and where it was. Also about how the waste lands where recovering and some area’s where farm-able and that was helping out his whole planet. Also his hover bike, Rei spoiled him with that and he does love taking it for rides when he’s at home.

When they here heading back inside, Nix looked over to see Eve walking over. “Hey Eve, is he all done?”

Catch her in the middle of a stretch, let Eve get that over and do– POP. Much better~ Rolling her head from side to side to clear out any other trapped air between her joints. “Hey mom, hey dad~ He’s done and baked. Just cooling down ready for his wake up.”

Watch Lev squirm and cringe to the popping. It’s gone through him. Urgh… Thank fuck Angelina took the girls when they came in…

Though X had smiled and nodded along during the whole catch-up session with Nix, he’d been anxious to get back and check on Gage. Now? Now he was nervous.

If this didn’t work, nothing would.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down. This was going to work. This had to work.

“Good to hear.” He faked a smiled, rolling his shoulders a little to try and force out some of the tension. “And there weren’t any complications?”

Nix nods and smiles a bit. “That’s good Let’s head there so he doesn’t wake up alone.” He noticed Lost’s look and tone and reached out to put his hand on his friends shoulder. “He’ll be fine. Come on, we can all give him a hug before we yell at him.”

“Sorta… it’s a bit harder to explain that just multi-verse stuff. Maybe you and Lev can chat about it another day.” Nix mused a bit and bounced the two little ones. “Not shy one bit aren’t they? Wonder if that’ll change when they are older.”

Whining subsided! The man is easy reach and Lily was instantly grabbing for… Hair. Typi-bloody-cal. She even giggled happily. “Weiwei~” No Lily.. It’s not Rei..

“Oh I can totally imagine the boys chasing them only to be scared by their brave, strong, spooky daddy~” Lev cooed at the girls, willing to embarrass the demon further with truth. “We better get this picnic sorted then~”

X, surprisingly, didn’t so much as flinch at the grab for his hair. Huh, guess Ali’s kits desensitized him to that.

He chuckled at the mental image, casting a teasing glance Nix’s way.

Seems X was finally starting to relax. “Alright, I give. A picnic does sound nice.”

Nix nuzzles the twins and purrs “You two are so cute” He chuckles a bit at Lost and sticks out his tongue. “I could always sing, I just didn’t do it a lot in the open.” He blushes a bit from listening to Lev talk about how he is with the girls, but he’ll let Lev explain the twins fast grow to Lost as He’s not sure on it himself.

Lily waved a second time, she’s so curious about this man, almost itching to reach out for him. But… Daddy’s holding her… She’s wanting both and straight out starts whining in frustration. If they’re not careful she’ll set Lavender off.

Leviathan’s eyeing his family, this is everything he was hoping for~ The question was what brought him back to reality. Of course this isn’t normal for other people… “Ah, yeah… There’s a fast ageing problem here. The twins before these two were practically adults within five to six months. These two are ageing one month per week~” Attacking Lily’s hand with a kiss or two. “lilypad, use your words. Ask daddy’s friend to come over~”

X just chuckles at Nix, though he does take pause when one of the tots starts whining.

“Fast aging… I take it due to all those issues Nix has been helping with around here?”

The phrase ‘use your words’ sent his thoughts careening off the track, so X took a breath to collect himself before smiling again. “It’s alright, here.” He stepped closer, walking around Nix, on the opposite side from Lev. “Here I am,” he cooed, though he left a foot or so of space between himself and Nix.

Nix chuckles a bit and went over to take the girls. “Thanks you Angelina.” He purrs a bit. “These little angels are Lily and Lavender.” And they are 100% daddies girls, Look at the demon Beam!

Angelina gave a small curtsy with limited restrictions of a five month baby bump, manners first however~ “You are more than welcome, sir~ May I take my break now?” Her polite behaviour extended further with bowing to the newcomer. “Welcome, my lord~”

Daddy has us! Oh daddy gets happy, giggly squeals from the pair of them while they cling to him so eagerly. Lily decided to be brave though and reach out her tiny hand to the new man to say hello! Lavender however babbled, “Lawidi wov dadda~”

This seem to be so common that Leviathan didn’t even bother to bat an eyelid at this, instead he only moved to steal some cheek kisses on the girls then leaving them be with Nix. “Born May 5th~ Lily had some small complications so neither of us could hold her yet. And as I said, Nix was baby struck first time holding her.” Clicking his tongue to think.

“They’re growing so strong all thanks to their handsome dad taking extra good care of them~ Lily pad loves daddy’s singing voice, Laviboo keeps copying daddy’s old claws and it’s just too adorable~” Someone please shut him up before he baby talks.

X has a private little chuckle at seeing Nix so happy, though he did pause to acknowledge Angelina with a polite nod. Should he say something? Oh stars, why is he so awkward around new people?

With the small hand waving hello, he gave a little wave back, smiling wider.

Ignoring the sudden flare from his headache, X nearly cooed at the babbling. His eyes were starry and bright, and he was covering his mouth to try and not start squealing with delight at the scene.

The date mentioned caught X off guard, and he turned to Levi with a confused look. “That young? And already talking?”

The next bit has X smiling again, though. He steps just a little closer, peering over at the ķ̨i̴t̛͞s̡̛ - at the little ones. “So you sing now?” X teased, smiling even wider at the mental image.

Like I said… I only started to really be ‘dad’ recently as Lev had plots for an amazing fathers day for me what was so nice I just couldn’t help it any more.” Nix hums a bit thinking about it again.

“It’s why I haven’t been around the multi-verse, There is a lot to do there but it’s also fun a lot of the time.” He hums a bit and thinks. “And you are getting metals, and you can take some home, I bet the kids will like them.”

Just listening to Nix talk about taking on the dad roll was calming enough for Leviathan, pulling just a small corner smile along with a scoff. “Give or take. And you knew you were dad as soon as the girls were born. If only we took a picture of your lovestruck expression the first time you held Lily~” Oh god, he’s tearing up just a little. “Excuse me..” Sniffling back his emotions.

A female came out of one of the rooms in a maid’s dress, holding onto some towels and heading along to the room they left from. Though at least she’s being polite. “Welcome home, Sir Nix~ Welcome to the Shadowcry household, friend of his Majesty~” She bowed her head and kept going.

X’s chuckle was warm yet quiet, his gaze fond. “No no, I’d think that something worth growing emotional over.”

He nodded to the presumed maid, unsure how else to reply without being a bother.

“Oh fine,” X sighed, his previous smile now a playful smirk. “Twist my arm, why don’t you?” he teased, though he held his position a few steps behind them rather than slipping forward to, say, elbow Nix in the ribs.

Nix nods to the maid and chuckles a bit “I’m sure you have pictures hidden away somewhere Lev.” He smiles a bit and looked at Lost. “Well I could try too, but I have a feeling you’d break my hand instead.” He said that in light hearted fun though.

Another maid was approaching with two toddlers, one on each him. She was perfectly fine with holding them, until they started squirming for freedom to get to two familiar faces! Oh dear…

“Girls, girls please~! Mind my tummy!” The woman laughed in amusement, quickening to get to them. “My apologies, but they were getting restless, they missed Daddy.”

He snorted and rolled his eyes at Nix, making it clear that he understood it was a joke.

He did take pause as the maid and children approached, however. With a soft chuckle under his breath at the newcomers’ antics, he held his position. “And who are these two little lovelies?”

X knew what a treat bragging about his kids was, so now he’s giving you that opportunity, Lev! Ramble away about your darlings, he doesn’t mind.

Nix chuckles a bit and went over to take the girls. “Thanks you Angelina.” He purrs a bit. “These little angels are Lily and Lavender.” And they are 100% daddies girls, Look at the demon Beam!

Nix keeps a hold of Lev. “I’m sure we can find you some scrap metals if you are hungry Lost. Me and Lev can have some sandwiches or something.” He chuckles a bit and pulls lev with them. “It’s a big house though so try to stay close so you don’t get lost.”

Leviathan almost looked relieved until Lost changed his mind, giving Nix a damn you glare. Though he’s going to have to go along with it. It’s probably not going to be so bad… Right?

“There’s plenty of scrap metal near the stables. Completely clean luckily.” He’s not going to question the choice of food. “Maybe have a mini picnic with the girls?” He can’t neglect them because they have a visitor and work, they come first!

Big house… A typical English Manor to be a bit more logical with explanation. Meaning multiple of corridors, room and all sorts to get lost in~ This corridor luckily is the profession section, the medical ward, labs, fashion… Just basics. The doors are left open unless required to be closed, easier to understand whats in where.

Don’t mind X, he’s just going to follow behind you two, just far enough behind not to crowd.

“So, how long have you two been together- at least a few months?”

His tone was gentle, but far from accusatory. X’s gaze was wandering about as the three walked along, and he seemed calmer than he’d been all week.

Speaking her language now… Eve laid her head back down while waving her hand at them. Enjoy one more last cocky attitude from her. “Yes, please let me sleep before I become like Kirby and eat you all for the energy…. You have fuck knows how long to venture!”

No, no, no. Leviathan’s trying to squirm his way out of this. “Maybe I should stay and watch… Just in case Eve doesn’t wake up?” Total lie, she’d wake up at the slightest beep. The beauty of baby monitors to wake parents up definitely had her trained well~ “Or how about I just go make those snacks~?” Anything to avoid having to talk to this man…

Fortunately or maybe not for Lev, X is just far enough out of it to not notice the blatant attempts at trying to get away.

“I’d rather be here in case-” no, stop. He’s being paranoid again. “…Actually? Yeah, ok. That sounds kind of nice right about now.” Maybe some fresh air would help him perk back up.

Nix keeps a hold of Lev. “I’m sure we can find you some scrap metals if you are hungry Lost. Me and Lev can have some sandwiches or something.” He chuckles a bit and pulls lev with them. “It’s a big house though so try to stay close so you don’t get lost.”

Nix sighs a bit. “Aliblu knows…. I have seen her a few times. I just don’t hang out on my world a lot right now. I do have a new house there though, the old one fell in. I also now rent out parts of the waste lands for research and other sections for farming, I get a good income from that actually…” He thinks a bit and rubs the back of his head. “But do spend a lot more time here, I found a family, not one that wants me to be another kid…” Shrugs a bit. “I will try to stay in contact more… but some times it’s just hard to remember now. Ali gets onto me for it too.

“Well, at least that means you don’t have to worry about her flipping out over this.” Wait. X had seen her recently, why hadn’t she told him about all this?

He can ask her about that later, though. “I’m just glad you’re doing alright, to be honest.” Even if X was looking a little overwhelmed by everything- Gage’s predicament, Gia’s issues, and then all of this? It was a lot to take in.

Though, speaking of Gage, X had spotted the person on the table looking over in that direction. He turned a bit towards her before asking, “how’s it going with Gage?”

“I’ll try to get better and remembering to say things.... Just life gets busy, You know that as well as me.” Nix hums a bit and gets up to talk around a bit. “Maybe we should go for a walk for a bit. Eve can sleep and we’ll come back when Gage is ready to wake up.”

Nix just gives Lev a look. “Lords…. ok ok ok.” Sighs a bit as he thinks. “Me and Lev are dating, but yes I am also still with Rei… we’re in an open relationship and Rei likes Lev so he’s fully ok with it.” He pulls on Lev’s ear though.

“Also… Lev has ten kids, they aren’t actually mine, I’m a reploid I can’t have kids. Even if Lev can change his gender… Half the kids are already adults with Eve being the oldest, and as you heard… She has a five year old and just had six babies. Another of Lev’s kids is about to adopt a little girl and another of Lev’s kids is about to give birth soon as well.” He takes a breath. “I have only been called dad since fathers day… due to Lev and the babies being cute.”

“Lets not forget to mention you’re practically a King with how close you are to mom.” Pausing for a moment before piping up. “You just give us a sample and we will make it possible for you to have a child! DNA isn’t hard to manipulate.” Trust her to keep trying.

After a moment of letting everything sink in, X just kind of… deflated with a deep sigh. “Stars, Nix, I thought something had happened between you and Rei.” Don’t scare him like that.

“And things happen, I know. It’s alright, yeah?” And that seemed to be the main extent of his worry oh no, wait-

“Nix?” X’s voice was suddenly quiet and concerned. “Ali knows about all this, right?”

X might have been liable to flip out, but Aliblu, when it comes to something like this? Oh boy.

Nix sighs a bit. “Aliblu knows.... I have seen her a few times. I just don’t hang out on my world a lot right now. I do have a new house there though, the old one fell in. I also now rent out parts of the waste lands for research and other sections for farming, I get a good income from that actually...” He thinks a bit and rubs the back of his head. “But do spend a lot more time here, I found a family, not one that wants me to be another kid...” Shrugs a bit. “I will try to stay in contact more... but some times it’s just hard to remember now. Ali gets onto me for it too.

Before Nix could even get near the computer, Leviathan was grabbing for his hands, taking a deep breath. “Dove, if I have to meet your friend and feel like Wicked is going to come back and haunt me, you can let Lost catch up on you…” Less Lev has any chance to speak the better. Because last X had checked, Nix and Rei were quite happy together.

X, while he didn’t seem ourwardly upset, did seem… tense, to a concerning degree.

Nix just gives Lev a look. “Lords.... ok ok ok.” Sighs a bit as he thinks. “Me and Lev are dating, but yes I am also still with Rei... we’re in an open relationship and Rei likes Lev so he’s fully ok with it.” He pulls on Lev’s ear though.

“Also... Lev has ten kids, they aren’t actually mine, I’m a reploid I can’t have kids. Even if Lev can change his gender... Half the kids are already adults with Eve being the oldest, and as you heard... She has a five year old and just had six babies. Another of Lev’s kids is about to adopt a little girl and another of Lev’s kids is about to give birth soon as well.” He takes a breath. “I have only been called dad since fathers day... due to Lev and the babies being cute.”

Eve scoffed though, rolling her eyes at the three. “Dad… Why not just tell Lost about your many children?” How about that for a subject change instead?

X was about to start laying things out in the open, despite Nix’s protests, until-

“Wait. What?” X’s gaze flicked over to Nix, then back to Lev, then back to Nix. “What do you mean, ‘Daddy’?” There’s the raised eyebrow that is most definitely not a good sign.

He looks at his arm a bit and flexed his fingers. “I wanna say some time this year, maybe in the summer…. Claws and little ones didn’t mix so Eve and I worked together to make me a new one.”

Let it be that a less energetic wave be Leviathan’s formal greeting to the other, along with a faint “hello..” Following that is picking away at his own nails.

“You really do get in a lot of trouble after all, huh?” Words do work if he’s taking his mind off of the elephant in the room. Eve however rolled herself over to look at the others while they talked, sleep isn’t coming quick enough anyway.

“Nice to meet you.” X turned to ‘Lev’, returning the wave. Wow, how was X this calm? Or was he just too tired to be properly paranoid?

No, no, this was a friend of Nix. They were fine.

“Someone needed to bail you out of trouble,” and of course X would be the first to volunteer. “And you have no idea, Lev.” Is X threatening to spill some embarrassing stories on you Nix? Better get him to shut up before you find out the old fashioned way!

X seemed to be relaxing a bit, knowing that the new ‘normal’ hand wasn’t there due to an injury. Which was a good thing, seriously you’ve already lost an arm twice Nix, you can chill out with those kinds of injuries for a while.
