We seem to think that Bay City's annual 4th of July celebration is the biggest and best in Michigan, and rightfully so as it attracts over 220,000 to the city of 39,000 every year. I know of photographers outside of the area who travel as much as 2 hours to photograph the spectacular show. Over the years I have amassed a nice collection, some of which I'm sharing with you.

Bay City Michigan draws a 1/4 million visitors to their annual 'Big Show' celebrating the 4th of July. The fireworks are always fabulous and the show seems better every year. I love photographing the fireworks and believe my rendering also improves with every show.

The pre-show to Bay City’s big firework display merited is own credits, so I add a Biblical Scripture of praise to honor the Lord our Creator for His fabulously painted skies at sunset. The fireworks which followed were pretty awesome as well.

What to do on a rainy day in Omaha? We went to the Henry Doorly Zoo and took in the Aquarium where amongst other things to see were these fabulous orange jellyfish floating about in the tank. The blue and orange primary colors viewed in a dark room just popped the eye with brilliance.

Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte in Sedona Arizona. I love visiting Sedona when traveling to Arizona. I never grow tired of the beautiful ‘red rock’ formations around this region. With both photography and just plain viewing in mind, I return again and again. This view is one from 2014 just as the sun was starting to set. The sun casts a nice warm light on the rock and brings out it’s natural red coloring.

Michigan Barns dot to rural landscape. Barns are my fascination, so many styles and levels of condition. It amazes me that they stand as long as they do given the fastening methods and unprotected wood that is exposed to harsh weather conditions in Michigan. Their long standing tribute is part of what compels me to go out and photograph these rural kings.

The Tall Ship Festival returns to Bay City, Michigan this summer. Canvas, smoke, pirates, masts and rigging all make for a thrilling weekend. I’ve got a perfect spot for photographing the ships as they enter the Saginaw River and make their way up to the port in downtown BC.

Sunset light upon superstition mountains and historic building in Goldfield ghost town along the Apache Trail in Arizona. I visited the ghost town at dusk knowing the golden hour would really warm up the buildings and mountain face. Love, love how the many images on this trip show rich and deep color.

mountain view from Superstition mountain Museum grounds along Apache Trail, Arizona. The trip was planned with knowing that the setting sun would cast a warm glow on the faces of the mountain and tourists would not be present.
