no but you're so right. the amount of times ive felt left out in self proclaimed progressive spaces is staggering. People offhandedly making insults based on appearance or intelligence and equating it with morality

Which also intertwines with racism, and antifatness. Appearance determining who is worthy of love and care, and who is pious and who is not. Disability is heavily a Black issue too. And queer! It goes deep! It intersects!

A movement or space that excludes disability cannot truly be for everyone until they include disability, which is the one class people can enter in at any moment of their life. 25% of the worlds population is disabled! Yet it’s SO overlooked SO frequently and people don’t think twice about it! It’s a systemic and societal issue.

I’m sorry that’s happened to you and you’ve felt so alienated. Because you shouldn’t have been. And it’s exhausting to see it everywhere. Yes we can teach and we should when/if we can but it gets exhausting, to explain our existence, or even justify it when we just want to live like everyone else. It sucks. Sending you love. 💖
