“ Yes, it is!” He teased as he tosses another ball into the trashcan  “ How about you come in and show me what you are made from then?” He jokes as he watches the paper ball go in.  “ Oh please, that was just luck!” With that, he does a backflip throwing ball as he turns around, and watching it go in as he lands on his feet. “  That is how you do it!”

“Okay first of all, what the fuck,” she told him after watching the backflip. “If you expect me to do a back flip in my jimmy choose you’ve fucking lost your mind. You do know this is a law office and not an obstacles course, right? Really though, have you done actual work today?”

“Is this what we pay you for?” Noah raised an eyebrow as she stood in the doorway of Oscar’s office, having just returned from a business lunch. “You better watch it, or I’m gonna show you up the way Mr. Salia taught me,” she joked, dropping her purse on top of his desk before she grabbed a piece of paper. She turned around and threw it over her shoulder, smirking when it went in. “I should’ve made a bet on that.”

“Very tiring,” Odessa admitted with a laugh, taking another sip from her own glass. “It just gets exhausting sometimes, having to run a store while my boss sits in their office doing nothing but barking orders and expecting me to do everything single-handedly. It’s a little frustrating.” She pushed her unruly curls back behind her ear and tried not to react as Noah dragged her fingertips along her thigh. “You’d think people would find something better to do with their time– like staying home when it’s so damn hot,” she murmured with a grin. “–Why aren’t you ready for that? You’d be amazing at it. I mean, you’re already amazing at what you do now, but I know you could do even greater things.” She could taste the wine on Noah’s lips as the woman kissed her, moaning softly as she nibbled on her lip, making her lean in closer, only for it to be cut short much too soon. Her lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes again, biting her lip as she looked at Noah, in a bit of a daze for a moment, before shaking her head and chuckling. “–I might be working. But I can say that I definitely have never fucked or been fucked on a yacht,” she murmured back, laughing with the other woman. “It sounds fun though…..” She took a quick sip of her wine again. “I could maybe change my schedule around. Get someone to switch days with me.”

“Sounds like your boss seriously needs to fuck off,” she replied with a soft laugh. Noah was lucky that she and Killian were the bosses in their space, though Noah had her fair share of shitty bosses beforehand. Lots of lawyers who were just in the business for their own gain. The kind of people Noah absolutely despised. “Because i”d probably have to move to DC or, it’d just be a whole new set of work I’m not sure I’m ready for. But I mean I’m five years away from 40, I have to make a change before then. But I have to sit down and make a bigger plan and that alone stresses me out,” she told her honestly before taking another sip of her wine. Noah loved the sound of her little moan, liking the reminder that she still had the ability to have that affect on a woman. She was better at this than she gave herself credit for. “No? Well if you’re interested, the invitation is open. A yacht is very fun. You can say you had sex on the high seas,” she teased and kissed her cheek, her company always making her twice as affectionate. “Plus sometimes I just can’t get enough of you,” she teased and dropped a kiss on her neck. “It’s a bit unfair, you know?”

Odessa was happy to hear that Noah had enjoyed herself as much as she had– it made her blush and smile, and made her very happy Noah had walked out of the room. Her eyes lit up, though, when the other woman came back in, wine bottle, two glasses, and a pack of cookies in her arms. She immediately sat up, pulling the sheet up over her chest and tucking it around her body, and watched as Noah attempted to pour wine without spilling a drop. “If it was corked, we’d probably be in real trouble,” she murmured with a grin, clapping when she saw Noah had been successful. “Look at you. You’re practically an expert.” She happily took her glass of wine, smiling brightly as she looked back at Noah, eyes softening. “You’re beautiful.” She clinked her glass against Noah’s, taking a long sip before answering the woman’s question, sighing softly. “It was…. very long. How was yours? Tell me all about it.”

“Mm, I am, aren’t it?” She fluttered her eyes lashes with a soft laugh before taking another sip. “Oh a sigh, hm? So when you say long you mean tiring? About the same. Busy as ever. The summer is just the time for crime apparently,” she teased, her fingers absentmindedly brushing along Odessa’s thigh. Noah had never considered herself an affectionate person but she had come to crave and love physical contact and just the feeling of having someone close to her. Enough nights in her bed alone without her ex wife had definitely taken it’s toll. “But work is work, I mean I’m good at it, it makes a difference. I’ve been wanting to do more though. Make even more of an impact on a federal level but that..sounds like more headaches and I’m not sure I’m ready for that.” She shrugged and moved in to kiss Odessa softly, biting slightly at her bottom lip before she pulled away. “Do you have any big plans for the weekend? If you’re free, I have this party I need to stop by for a little bit. Tell me, have you ever fucked on a yacht?” Noah wiggled her eyebrows before laughing softly.

It wasn’t the response Teagan was expecting, but she wasn’t mad at it. The man disappeared from her mind as if he were never even there, Teagan’s attention and body fully turning on the raven haired beauty clearly making a pass at her. “ Who said I wasn’t checking you out?” Teagan grinned. “ Hey, it’s hard these days for a girl – a couple years ago it was more obvious who you can hit on. Now straight girls wear flannel and caps cause it’s comfortable and queer chicks are into makeup and pink. You think ten years ago I would ever even imagine in my wildest dreams a woman as gorgeous as you would even look at me?” Teagan chuckled.

Her closet favored graphic T-shirts and second-hand jeans which was mostly coupled with a bare face and a braid – Teagan thought it was a little on the nose, sure, but it was her taste.  “Teagan.” She said simply with her hand extended to the woman. It was formal, but a far less creepy way of letting the woman know that she wanted her attention than standing in a corner gawking.

Noah wasn’t sure if the woman would respond to her but she couldn’t mask the smile starting to grow on her face when she did. “Ohh, you cleaned that up so well,” she teased and actually gave Teagan a genuine smile as she turned to her. “Are you complaining that not enough lesbians wear flannel anymore? There’s a think piece in there, I’m sure. And your dreams obviously aren’t wild enough.” Noah smirked as she took the woman’s hand and just because she was feeling like being a little cheeky, she brought her hand to her lips and kissed it softly. “Noah,” she told her, a proud grin on her lips as she dropped her hand. “And this is Kennedy,” she told her and glanced down at the pug at her feet. “She seems to like you.” She laughed softly before pullin gher eyes up to meet Teagan’s gaze. “So do you usually come to the farmers market to pick women up?” She smirked and slowly moved them along as she looked for what else she could by. “Not judging, just curious.”

“Mmmm, definitely not going anywhere. I still barely getting feeling back in my legs,” Odessa murmured, smiling as Noah’s lips pressed against hers. She exhaled and brought her hands up to Noah’s cheeks, nibbling on her bottom lip, not wanting to let the other woman go just yet– but, the idea of wine really did sound nice. Their whole arrangement was nice– Odessa had needed tonight after the last couple days at work and what was going on in other areas of her life as well. Her lashes fluttered as she lay back as Noah pulled away, smiling softly up at her before pushing up on an elbow to watch her. “Kinda. We did burn a lot of calories.”

“We did, didn’t we? Best workout I’ve had in a while,” Noah replied on her way out of the room. She came back with a bottle of wine tucked under her arm, two glasses in another while she held a box of cookies in the other. “It was the best I could find but we can totally order food later if you really want to,” she told her and tossed the box into the bed before climbing back in with the wine. “Okay lets see if I can do this without ruining my comforter,” she joked, “They make it look so much more sexy in the movies. But thankfully this is a screw top. “She poured them both a glass without dropping a bit and handed her the glass with a proud smile. “Cheer, beautiful,” she told Odessa softly as she met her eyes, holding her gaze as she took her first sip. “How was your week?”

“Okay, don’t go anywhere, I’m getting us wine,” Noah told Odessa but made no signs of moving as she kissed her slowly. She was still trying to catch her breath a bit, thankful for the other woman coming over after the stressful week she had. Dating apps were proving to be mostly useless and she was reailizing she hated going on dates. But the rhythm she had gotten into with Odessa was nice. Both of them able to stay on the same page about what this was. “Okay I’m going for real now,” she joked and pressed one last kiss before getting out of bed without her clothes, flashing Odessa a smile over her shoulder. “Are you hungry?”

Deciding she needed to walk off the double hamburger she ate, Teagan wandered around town,popping into shops with cute trinkets and record stores to pretentiously buy vinyls. It was a nice way to get the only workout she would ever do, and retail therapy was always an added bonus. When her feet lead her to an open market of sorts, Teagan saw it as the perfect opportunity to get a lot for a little and maybe even pretend to be a healthy, functioning adult by getting organic fruit.

While eyeing the selection and trying to decide if she actually wanted cherries for whatever reason, she noticed someone staring. Not at her, but at the person beside her, and being rather obvious about it, like he was trying to will the person to look up and notice him. With a chuckle, Teagan’s lack of shame decided to attempt to play Cupid and out the guy. “ Hey –” She quietly said tot he person on her left. “ Don’t look – or do – but you’re totally being checked out by that guy over there.”

Noah had been in therapy long enough now to feel like she was actually getting somewhere in terms of moving on from her failed marriage. She no longer looked over her shoulder, afraid to run into her ex wife or even the woman who her wife had cheated on her with. She instead focused on the new opportunities ahead and took advantage of the summer weather to walk her dog. Though sometimes it was like Kennedy was walking her with how excited she got at times. 

She had pulled the pug gently a stop as they got to the farmers market and she grabbed a few bags to fill, figuring she could use something fresh. When she heard the voice beside her, she turned with a soft laugh and looked at the guy. “Cute,” she told her, “But not my type,” she added with a shrug, her eyes moving instead to the woman next to her, her smile widening ever so slightly. “If you were checking me out instead though, it might be a different story,” she added, before turning back to the fruit in front of her, Kennedy sniffing at the woman’s shoes. “Plus anyone worth while wouldn’t just stare like a weirdo.”

“God I’ve been needing to get that much anger out of my system for a while.” Eliza takes a deep breath again; rambling tended to take a lot of the air out of her lungs. Family is always gonna be complicated. “ So am I. Though I unfortunately don’t get to use destruction a lot. “Eliza tended to have a good moral compass but she does have her moments where she’s gotta abandon what she would normally go for. “Exactly!” 

“Well I’m happy I can help,” Noah told her with a soft laugh. “It’s unfortunate that people have zero tact or manners or just..soul.” She shrugged and finished off her drink. “You know what this means? You deserve a night out and frankly, so do I. So we’re going to go out, and get some drinks, and look our best and forget that dumbass people like this even exist.”

“Right? He’s an angel.” Hayat let out a sigh of pure adoration as she reached to pat Noah’s cheek. “I mean, I could be an honorary aunt for you. That’s probably a sexual thing for some people but I would genuinely just take you to the movies and buy you sugary cereal.” She paused for a moment before bursting out laughing. “Let’s not scare them away. I’m sure my desire to have eleven children will pass eventually,” she assured, not completely convinced that was actually the case. “Paige and I would make criminally cute babies, wouldn’t we?” 

Noah let out a snort of a laugh. “A sexual thing? Oh god that’s terrifying. I like that though. I deserve to be given sugary cereal and see a movie someone else paid for.” She spoke through her laughter, wiping at her eyes as she calmed down a bit. “I’m still not over you mentioning it as a sexual thing. Mm, will it? Or will it be that in ten years I’m visiting you and your soccer team of a family.” Noah’s smile widened and nodded. “Oh most definitely. That’s why i can’t wait to be the cool aunt to them. They’re sure to be the coolest babies. Have you and Paige talked about that? I mean, having kids.”

“Isn’t he just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?” Hayat was practically squealing as she swiped through photos of her brand new nephew. “Honestly, I’m amazed I managed to leave the hospital without being escorted out for overstaying my welcome.” A sigh escaped her as she stared at her phone screen with obvious fondness. “I want like eleven.” 

“Oh my god he’s precious,” Noah replied with a slight pout as she leaned in to look at more of the photos. “Please, he’s lucky to have the best aunt in the world. I mean, I’m jealous,” she teased and nudged her lightly. “Oh? Should I tell Paige to get to it?” She smirked and leaned her head on Hayat’s shoulder. “Congratulations.”

“Honestly, if I were you, I would sleep for an entire week. You really deserve it.” He blushes, ducking down at his food from the compliment. “I can’t guarantee you a copy, but I do one hundred percent support you stopping by the bakery. Let me know your favorite dessert or pastry, because I’ll make you a whole batch as a congratulatory gift.” He squeezes Noah’s hand, meeting her gaze with a bright smile. “You know how it is,” he says with a laugh. “I’m glad I have you to text when it’s three in the morning and I’m on my last batch cookies for a catering order.” 

Jacob nods, listening intently as Noah recounts what she’s been up to with her life. He remembers hearing about the end of her and her ex-wife’s relationship and the divorce following it, and his heart goes out to her. He doesn’t know how he would feel if he found out his partner—or even worse, his spouse—cheated on him multiple times. He just hopes he’s been a supportive friend along the way. “A change in pace besides work is great for the mind, so that’s great that you’re going out and becoming more social and doing yoga.” Now it’s his turn to reach over and squeeze Noah’s hand. “You’re incredibly strong for going through this, y’know? Especially with work and all.” He remembers interacting with Noah back when the divorce was happening, noticing a change in behavior, so seeing her energetic again makes him happy for one of his closest friends. “I’m genuinely happy to see you in a better place now.“ Finishing his glass, he raises his eyebrows “You’re going to New York Pride?!” He exclaims. “That’s awesome! You have to tell me how it is. I’m going to Portland’s and I’m super excited.”

“Oh god a whole batch? You spoil me, it’s so unfair but I never want it to stop,” she told him with a soft laugh. “And I am so, so partial to your chou à la crème, it’s..to die for, really. And canolis. The new yorker in me just fucking loves canolis.” She smiled as she thought his 3am texts, knowing they helped when she was up and going crazy over her cases. “Promise me you’ll never stop texting me at 3 in the morning, okay? I live for your texts and your selfies with your finished batch.” She appreciated Jacob’s friendship more than she could describe. And he and his baking skills had helped her with her sad eating post divorce in so many ways. 

“Don’t make me cry at dinner,” she joked but gave him an appreciative smile as she gave his hand a squeeze in return. “Thank you, it feels good you know? Being in that cloud, moping it’s just..not me. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m still incredibly sensitive about it and new relationships have been..hard to pursue but it’s easier to get up in the morning and all of that. That feels like progress.” She nodded, her smile widening by the moment. “Of course, I’ll send you plenty of pictures. I’m at my peak energy whenever I’m around a bunch of queers.” She laughed softly, smiling up at the waiter as he brought their food and she clapped excitingly. “Oh we’re about to stuff our faces, my love. This is a judgement free zone so please, dig in.”

Darcy winced, then chuckled. So bad. “Mm, a stretch limo,” she said, pointing with the hand not delivering her glass to her lips. “The most expensive and…fuck, I don’t know, longest one out there.”

“Yes, exactly a stretch limo, plenty of room. Or even a hummer limo.” Noah laughed before sipping more of her wine, not as upset with where she was now. More frustrated than anything else. “What about you, hm? Have you found anything worth your while?”

“And then, then she tells me, oh sorry, I have to go because my father has to pick me up and if I dont catch a ride with him, I won’t be able to afford a cab home. So not only am I fucking a 25 year old but a fucking 25 year old who can’t even drive herself around. Her father picked her up from a hook up, dear god,” she groaned through her laughter as she sat at her counter with Darcy and topped off their glasses. “I need to find one of those rich people in their 20s who has a driver. I mean I deserve to be fucked in the back of a limo you know?”
