Episode 02 of The Inner Sanctum: A Dark Ambient Vlog! https://noctilucant.bandcamp.com/album/crumbling-cities-echoing-their-terror Noctilucant’s latest album, ‘Crumbling Cities Echoing Their Terror’ has been released!  This 9-track album is a compilation of previously unreleased songs from October of 2015 to December of 2016, including a cover song from the Final Fantasy 7 video game.  Released as both a digital download and on red ferric cassette tape by Sleep Unit from the UK.  

 Sleep Unit had this to say about the release, "Noctilucant provides us with a deep and ominous offering on red cassette tape (ferric). The quality on this tape is astounding - Noctilucant's post-apocalyptic soundscapes translate perfectly to the analogue format. Nine finely-crafted soundscapes composed over the period of year are laid out over this 60 minute tape. There's a dark, fuzzy, heady space on these tracks which leaves you satisfied immediately upon listening, but the compulsive need to re-listen again, until the tape wears out and degrades, like the civilisation Noctilucant has left behind."

There's Blood on our Hands, by Noctilucant

The third part of Noctilucant’s lengthy singles series has arrived.  Similar to the previous two singles, ‘There’s Blood on our Hands’ deviates from the usual Noctilucant storyline/theme as it was inspired by a painting I completed in early January of 2015.  The painting itself was based around a nightmare I had where I found myself lost in an ashen cavernous obscure realm where mysterious shadowy humanoids followed behind me closely, whispering in my ear, while blood dripped off the tips of their fingers.  This 24 minute soundscape offers up deep suffocating droning ambiance that gradually builds in its intensity as you make your way through this fearsome domain.

The physical version of ‘There’s Blood on our Hands,’ comes housed in a handmade digipak, which is limited to 20 copies.  Each one is unique as both the digipak itself and the CDr were hand painted.  This version also features 5 bonus tracks!  One of the songs is a cover version of Nobuo Uematsu’s, ‘You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet,’ from the Final Fantasy 7 video game (dark ambient style of course), while the other 4 songs are tracks from the ‘Pain, Plague and Pestilence’ EP from last year.  In total the physical version offers up 55 minutes of music.

Part 5 of my Unsigned and New Dark Ambient series has been released! Volume 5 is by far the most visually stunning version as each song has been paired up with video footage that I felt complemented each song. This 1-hour mix features the likes of, Breinskam, Item Caligo, Signore Serpente, Túrion, Ghost Empty, Proxhus, Fear-Modern-Man, Comadescent, Ugasanie and of course one of my own Noctilucant songs. The Neath the Cerulean Abyss music video has been released!  Filmed and edited by J. Mlodik (AKA Noctilucant) between September to November of 2016, the video features extensive footage of watery shores, skylines, beaches and underwater sceneries for all you dark ambient aquanauts out there.  

The footage is interspersed with various ocean related quotes from admirers of the high sea.  The original 30+ minute song has been edited down to just nine minutes here to highlight the most memorable points of the song.  Additionally the Bandcamp page has been updated with some bonus content, which will contain a high quality version of the nine minute music video edit of Neath, and an mp4 video file of the music video for Neath The Cerulean Abyss.

Prepare to be surprised and confronted. There are moments of hope - but make no mistake, this area is forsaken. There is only death and despair here. Cold steel has been pressed to shivering temples and brains have been splattered in dark lonely rooms - Cobain style. This is very much a dark ambient album but there are elements that you would usually expect to hear in other genres of dark music. Many ambient works maintain a steady dynamic level throughout with little (if any) change in atmosphere and mood. This is not one of those albums. Prepare to be compelled on a physical, emotional and spiritual level with the ever changing emanations and undertones.

Oblivion To You All, by Noctilucant

‘Oblivion To You All’ has been released!  Oblivion is over 70 minutes of post apocalyptic dark ambient music, with underlining industrial and experimental textures, and further develops the cinematic characteristics explored on previous releases.  Work began on this album shortly after the completion of ‘Back to the Mud,’ and all these months later I feel it’s absolutely my finest creation to date.  Paying customers on Bandcamp will receive a bonus track titled ‘She Only Comes Out At Night,’ and a mp4 video file of the music video for ‘Where Snow Remains and Life Fades.  

'Oblivion to you all' sees the world now sparsely populated, this is after the apocalypse, when many humans have fallen and those that remain standing are left to deal with a world that has changed into something 'else...'

After much time having passed without a proper update I’m quite pleased to finally let everyone know what’s going on in the world of Noctilucant.

First and foremost, the fabled, ‘Oblivion To You All’ has become a reality and will be released soon!  Clocking in at over 70 minutes, ‘Oblivion To You All’ is the next chapter in the Noctilucant story, which was previously started on the debut album, ‘Back to the Mud.’  ‘Oblivion To You All’ now sees the world sparsely populated, this is after the apocalypse, when many humans have fallen, and those that remain standing are left to deal with a world that has changed into something else.  The story isn’t necessarily linear, but rather individual accounts of ruin, loss and despair when the end is in fact here.  Musically Oblivion takes shape as a cinematic dark ambient release with various underlying industrial and experimental characteristics throughout.  It also features the voice talents of a few individuals to make the experience all the more human.

Once again the cover artwork was masterfully created by Maia of Glitch Witch, and she not only nailed my original concept, but absolutely came up with something amazing as the final piece. Behold!

In other news, the next volume in my Unsigned and New Dark Ambient video series for YouTube was released Sunday afternoon.  This next volume features Aphotic Apathy, Comadescent, Hierophant V, Infinite Isolation, Randall Collier-Ford, Raych V, Signore Serpente, Sôlbjörg and of course a Noctilucant track, too.  All the background images are once again my own personal photography.

Also a bit more into the future, I’m planning on doing a split release with a Dark Ambient project from Spain known as Breinskam, which will likely be about 20 minutes of music from each artist.  

A label has also shown interest in re-releasing ‘Buried Alive in Mud’ & ‘Neath The Cerulean Abyss’ in very limited tape cassette format!  

A few months ago I started work on a side project (no name yet), which will likely see release sometime before the end of summer.  The music for this project is largely drone ambient based with underlining experimental textures.  More news on this when it becomes relevant.     

And finally before the new year passes I’m hoping to release the final chapter in my lengthy single series, which may also be released in tape cassette format by the same label.
