The grass billowed beneath your feet, the wind picking up speed as it hit each green blade in repeated harmony. The gentle kinds of blades, not the ones used to kill; the ones that sprouted from the earth, the ones that acted as cushions for nights when you lay down with your lover on. Nights, like tonight.
You held onto his hand with a steady but secure grip as the both of you raced towards the peak of Starsnatch Cliff. Youâve been here with him, multiple times, when you were young, and maybe this time, youâll finally be able to see a star fall from the sky. Your childlike laughs broke through the whistling of the leaves and the snoring of birds and insects alike.Â
You almost couldnât believe it. You knew he was a busy man, being the vice-captain of the Favoniousâ ranged company, a person notorious for being constantly hungry for chaos and disorder, who spent no time idling about doing nonsense things, always having a monsterâs blood to shed or a test to commence. You also knew that he was your beloved, Lohen, who despite being such a busy man, was with you in this exact moment, seemingly enjoying spending time together as much as you were.
You hung a small basket over your arm, coming prepared for the hunt about to initiate. As soon as his keen eyes lied on any, Lohen made a beeline towards the berries that grew amongst these wilds, and foraged for just about all of them. With his hands full, heâd run towards your direction like an obedient puppy to toss his wares into your basket, slowly filling it up. It was like a game to him, to test his agility. How fast heâs able to come to and fro, how quickly he can get that basket filled, and he enjoyed this game very much. You had your hands occupied yourself, searching for the different edible fungi that grew and collecting heaps upon heaps of mint. Itâs become a habit. You can get him to make gum with these later, you think.
Above you, the stars shone and blinked fiercely as they watched all of your antics. After you felt that your basket was heavy enough, you hiked with big steps and sat right on the edge of the cliff, feet dangling in the air and head tilted upwards.Â
You dared not look down to watch the sea below, but instead just heard the lapping of each wave as it hit the rocks and shore. You kept your gaze up, tracing the stars to form images in your head. So far, youâve gotten a hare with large ears, a curved dolphin and the faint silhouette of a pouting kitten.
A faint flowery scent wafted into your nostrils as you felt something resting upon your head. As well as the weight of a certain someoneâs hand. Lohen had placed a gloved hand on your head, as well as.. Something else. It felt like a ring that gently wrapped around your head. You took the thing off and saw a flower crown braided with freshly plucked cecilias. You turn to watch his face break into a large grin as you place it back on your head.
âA crown, fitting for the ruler of my heart, no?â he cooed as he dropped himself right next to you. Ruler. Monarch. King. The highest ranking possible in his heart. You giggled as you rested your head on his shoulder, pulling him closer to you.
Clasping a hand above his, you pointed towards the sky. âSee that? It looks like you.â
âThe one with the enormous ears? Haha, funny.â
The two of you sat like this for a while, drinking in each otherâs presence. Before you grew wary. Lohen was⌠surprisingly silent. Youâd think such a stagnant activity like this would have bored him out already, so you turned around to check for how he was doing.
⌠Where you realize that instead of the stars or the skies or the sea, his attention was fully, utterly and completely fixated on your face. Even as you locked eyes with him he had no intention of looking away, completely shameless as if his plans were to watch you like this from the start.
â...Lohen. We came to stargaze. Gaze at.. stars, yâknow?â you raised an eyebrow. He only chuckled in response.Â
âThatâs what Iâm doing now, though,â he said as he pushed a piece of hair behind your ear, brushing your ear with his knuckles and not missing how red and warm it went.
Your cheeks felt like it catched fire. Against your better judgement, you tackled him to the ground, though mindful not to accidentally roll off the edge and die in the most pathetic and hilarious death known to Teyvat.
âCouple drops to their death in lovestruck frenzyâ sounds like an amazing eyecatcher, but not today.
With him below you, he stretched his arms out to hold your shoulder and caress your face in the gentlest strokes imaginable. No one would ever believe you if you told them how god-awfully cute and endearing he could be. You let out a breathless gasp, unknowingly inching closer to his face. You probably looked really silly right now, having an innocent flower crown sitting on your head as the two of you were bound together mere inches away from the cliff's edge.
â..So? Are you gonna do something, Fox?â he prodded, a soft squeeze to your shoulder. With limited options and a hazy brain, you did the only thing you could think of.
You lowered your face down till you finally felt your lips on his. His eyes instantly light up, and his arms coiled around your neck, holding you close and made sure you wouldnât leave. Not that you ever would. You wished you could stay like this, stay with him forever, and you willed your body to do so. If only you could replace your need of oxygen for the need of him instead. Maybe then you could live a much fulfilling life. No matter.
His tongue lapped at your lips, flicking it a few times before you parted them. He let out a string of giggles before plunging deep inside, the pink muscle sliding through each gummy crevice he could find, not that this was his first time.
Your arms start getting weak, so you opted for settling your weight onto his body, pressing on his chest like a heavy, weighted blanket.
The stars probably looked beautiful from his point of view. You could tell from the way they reflected off his magenta eyes. They sparkled, gleamed and glowed. When you finally let him go, you felt his chest heave in and out, desperate for air but trying not to show it. You felt your mind close to blank, thoughts filled with nothing but him.Â
â..So, space cadet, how were the stars?â you chided.
âBeautiful. Hah.. I couldnât take my eyes off them, not even once.â
You would know. His eyes never broke free from you at all.
