Looking at her phone, Stella considered it for a second before slowly nodding her head. “I don’t have any other plans for tonight so I suppose I could stay for a little bit.” While she wouldn’t have made these kind of plans for herself, she also hadn’t seen Noel in a little while and even though they did tend to argue a lot, she still missed being around him. While he easily angered her more than almost any other person she knew, he was also able to make her feel calm, which was something she almost never felt.
His enthusias made a little smile appear on her lips, he sometimes had an almost childlike ability to appreciate the beauty in seemingly simple things, things Stella usually didn’t even took the time to look at. “Yeah, I admit it is nicer than I had anticipated the beach to be in January.” Instinctively, she pushed her hair behind her ears, since it kept being blown into her face, keeping her from actually really seeing anything. Then she let her gaze travel back to him and chuckled a little at him arranging a good place for her to sit down. Gladly she wasn’t working any of her fancy work clothes anymore, those she definitely couldn’t afford to get dirty, but had changed into jeans at home. “Alright, I can hardly say no after you went through all that trouble.” Sitting down, she slightly bumped his shoulder with hers. “It’s very gentleman-ly of you to give me your jacket, by the way, but if you’re cold now I’d definitely be willing to give it back to you. I would hate for you to get sick and not be able to paint any more paintings, that you won’t let me sell.”
Noel grins brightly as Stella gives in, pleased as she takes the seat at his side.
“Well, I am known for being a gentleman, Stella. I don’t know why you sound so surprised.” Noel jokes lightly in return as he leans his shoulder back into Stella’s playfully. He allows himself to give her a fond look for a moment as he shakes his head, easily promising, “But don’t you worry. Even if I get terribly sick, and can barely drag myself out of bed...I will still get up and paint more paintings that I won’t let you sell.” Noel lets a hand rest over his heart, eyes crinkling with his grin as he teasingly says, “I am a professional after all.”
Noel is leaning back on his hands as he sits beside Stella, looking at her rather than the view as he says, “that said,” Noel arches a brow pointedly, eyes teasing as he says, “you have a point. With you sitting on my coat, I could very easily get cold in this frigid January beach weather. But seeing as I am, as we previously discussed, a perfect gentleman, I have no intention of taking your new seat from you. I mean, what kind of man would I be if I quit literally pulled the rug out from under you? No,” Noel shakes his head, lips curling up in amusement as he leans back to lie in the sand and says, “in the circumstance that I’m about to freeze to death, I’m just going to have to trust you to warm me up, Stel. Body heat is the only way.” Noel raises a hand quickly to add, “Completely platonically of course. That is,” He arches a brow in question, looking at Stella with moderate seriousness as he asks, “unless you’ve talked to Evie?”
