Jonah laughed as they stepped outside, trying to contain the fact that he found her to be so damn adorable. âBeing trapped a room with no windows for half the day is actually hell. Itâs hell for yourâ whatâs it called?â He paused for a moment, âThe word, for your eyes? You know what Iâm talking about?â Other than the problems with a few of his fine motor skills, another ongoing impairment from his traumatic brain injury was not being able to piece sentences together as heâd like. He often forgot words, no matter how much he wanted to remember, they just would not come to mind. It was annoying, not only to him, but to those around him.
He laughed at her request to take a selfie. If there was anything he legitimately loved, it was Snapchat. His story was public and he knew that tons of people watched it. Jonahâs biggest achievements were the Buzzfeed articles written about some of his stories, âNew hubby, huh? Already husband status after the first shoot.â He joked, nudging her a bit, âItâs called Rubyâs Cafe. I swear, they have the best salads on planet Earth, and this is coming from a burger man.â He explained excitedly as they continued to walk. Only a few minutes later, they arrived. After getting a patio seat for two, he sat across from her, placing his phone on the table, âStarve no more, young one.â Jonah expressed jokingly, picking up his menu to go over it.
She nodded, âI feel like weâve just been released from a dungeon for the first time in thirty years,â she chuckled at her own joke, hoping she wasnât seeming like she was trying to force herself to be funny. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as Jonah struggled to find the words he was looking for. Vision? Was that what he was trying to say? She wondered why he struggled so much to figure out that word, but everyone always has tip-of-the-tongue moments, so she just nodded in agreement, âYeah, I get what you mean.â She said, still a bit confused.
She smiled and tried to hide her blush at his question, she hoped he hadnât seen that comment. But instead of reacting in fear and stuttering a response out like she normally would she just shrugged slightly, âI mean, we were married on set werenât we?â She giggled slightly as she hit send on the screen. Hopefully Kaiden wouldnât freak out at her being out with a boy and try to call her and ask her for every detail or for her to introduce him to Jonah so he can give his approval. âIâll be the judge of that, I tend to be quite critical of salads.â She was almost a bit hesitant to sit outside, seeing as it was getting to be that time of year where it was rather warm all day, but she saw the patio was in the shade and it wasnât too dreadfully hot at the time, so she didnât object to sitting outside. She chuckled at his comment, âHow do you know Iâm a young one? You donât know how old I am, I could be twenty years older than you for all you know!â She laughed as she picked up her menu and began scanning it, even though she had no intention to order anything more than a salad.
361/365 Days of Barbara Palvin
Jonah had shot with plenty of models in the past. Some were well oiled in the industry while others were new on the spot. He could sense which ones had true potential and which ones did not. Noelle was the former. Her natural charisma with the camera was something that was so rare. He thoroughly enjoyed working with her and hoped that this wouldnât be their first and only time together. When she accepted his offer, he had to keep himself from jumping with joy. Instead he just casually smiled, âCool. See you in a bit.â He replied as he left for his dressing room.
After getting out of his wardrobe back into his casual clothing, he was more than ready to go. Jonah thanked those that had helped him get ready that day, then left to go back into the main studio to wait for Noelle. After answering a few messages on Twitter, he decided to update his story, but he was interrupted by Noelleâs voice closing in. He stood up and grinned, âIâm ready if you are.â He said with a laugh, then headed towards the door. Jonah opened it and held it for Noelle, blinking a few times as his eyes adjusted to the sunlight, âGod, I feel like weâve been trapped in a dungeon all day.â He said as they began to walk down the sidewalk, âDo you think today went well?â
Noelle couldnât help but smile wider at the sight of Jonahâs smile, it was almost contagious. She almost even blushed as he smiled at her. She followed him to the exit and was almost blinded by the sunlight that met her as he opened the door. She tried to shield her eyes from the sun but it was still so bright outside it took her a while to adjust. âAnd I thought the lights in there were bright,â she joked as she reached for her sunglasses in her bag and felt instant relief as soon as she put them on. She shrugged at his question, âWell Iâve definitely been to shoots that have gone a lot worse than todayâs so Iâm hoping it went well,â she chuckled slightly.
She slowed down slightly as her phone buzzed in her hand and she heard a ding come from it. She looked at the screen and saw she had gotten a snapchat from her cousin, Kaiden. She lifted her sunglasses so she could see the message and saw that it was a picture of him making a pouty face with the caption, âGram and I want to know if youâre gonna be done soon. We wanna go into town.â Noelle had almost forgotten that her grandmother and cousin had tagged along with her to New York this time, and they had been left in the hotel room all day waiting for Noelle to come back from work. Part of her felt bad for forgetting about them and she almost turned to Jonah and asked if maybe they could do this another time, but she didnât know how much longer he would be here, and maybe there wouldnât be enough time for another time. She decided to stay with Jonah, she could always go into town with them later today or tomorrow since they werenât leaving for another two days. She opened the front camera and held her phone out so it could capture both her and Jonah, âTake a selfie with me for my cousin,â she giggled as she added the dog filter before taking the picture and adding the caption âGo on without me, going to lunch with my new hubby :)â After she sent the message she put her phone back in her pocket and began looking around as they walked, âWhereâs this cafe you speak of, sir? Iâm starving!â She asked, noticing the growling of her stomach.
Jonah nodded, understanding where she was coming from. Being new in the industry definitely was not easy. Since he was basically born in Hollywood, he never truly experienced it, but once he started modeling full time, he could remember being the newbie on a set with big names, âThe longer youâre in it, the better it is to hide. Iâve had cameras in my face since I was a baby and I still get nervous sometimes. But hey, youâve come this far, thatâs awesome. A year in is amazing, especially nowadays.â He smirked, trying to remember the details of her face. Her big blue orbs make her face soft and innocent, but something about her was just so different.
Standing there in his stiff suit, he was taken back a bit by her comment. He shrugged it off with a laugh and gave her a smile, âDonât worry about it, just relax. This photographer is great, but heâs demanding. Watch out, alright?â He whispered, looking directly at her with raised eyebrows. Jonah then caught himself being completely fixated on his hands. Ever since the accident, at times, he felt himself drifting off, paying attention to the minor movements of his body. Although most of the time his hand movements were fine, no matter how much he wanted to or how he thought about it, getting his hands to grip just would not happen. The directors voice woke him from his trance and they were to begin the shoot.
Jonah thought that all was going well. The shoot had gone into mid-afternoon, so he knew that it had to be over soon. His stomach grumbled quietly while on set, and he hoped that soon would come now rather than later. When the director instructed them to kiss, Jonah turned to oblige. He caught the look of terror in her eyes and simply took a step further, âJust go for my bottom lip and Iâll go for your upper. Looks great on camera, plus itâs not actually kissing.â He said through his teeth, preparing himself for it. After the director had all the shots he wanted, interns began filling the room, taking down props while Jonah was waiting to go back to his dressing room. He made his way to Noelle, giving her a bright smile, âThose are gonna turn out great, I just know it. You wanna grab some lunch after you get undressed? Thereâs this cafe down the street that has a great gluten-free menu. What do you say?â
Noelle nodded slightly at Jonahâs words, for some reason his words did help her calm down and relax a little bit. She began to feel at ease when she realized how helpful and genuinely nice Jonah was trying to be. She hadnât met too many rude people in the time she had started working as a model, but there definitely were some, and then there were others that werenât downright rude, but Noelle could tell they did not want to be around her or just didnât want to be there in general, they were always distant and cold and sometimes passive aggressive towards her, so when Noelle noticed how kind Jonah was trying to be she definitely appreciated it.
Noelleâs brow furrowed when she turned back to Jonah and noticed him staring intently at his hands. She looked down at his hands and noticed nothing wrong with them so she wondered why he was looking at them. â... You alright?â she asked him, somewhat concerned, but before she could get a full answer they were being called over to get started.
Noelle nodded nervously at his suggestion, she shouldâve known this was going to be required of her at some point, and she probably wouldnât be ready for it if it happened today or ten years from now, so she might as well get it over with now and get used to it. It didnât end up being as bad as she thought it was going to be, and after it was over with Noelle thought it was actually kinda nice. After they were finished Noelle was immediately ambushed by people trying to retrieve the accessories she was wearing, why they couldnât wait until she got to the dressing room she didnât know. She smiled when she saw Jonah approaching her and blushed at his comment. She raised her eyebrows at his offer. Lunch? He was asking her to lunch? No one sheâs worked with had asked her to lunch before, so she was a bit taken aback. Wait- was he asking her out on a date? No, surely he couldnât have been. He was just being nice she didnât want to assume things, but lunch did sound nice so she smiled and nodded, âIâd love that. Meet you back here in twenty or so?â she agreed as she was whisked off to the dressing room. Noelle wished that she had worn something a little bit dressier than her skinny jeans and a plain black long-sleeved shirt, but she wasnât expecting to go anywhere but back to her hotel after the shoot, so how was she supposed to know? After she had been dismissed by the wardrobe crew she grabbed her small backpack and slung it over her shoulder and headed back out to the main studio to meet Jonah. âReady to go?â She asked with a smile on her face.
As he spoke, the disinterest on her part was evident. Jonah was nervous and when he was like this, he had a habit of just talking about everything and anything. Anyone was lucky to get a word in during this.  He relaxed in the seat for a moment an shrugged his shoulders, âAs obvious as a sheep with a group of ducks. But donât worry, none of the scrubs working around here would notice. I suppose I just have a keen eye for it.â Jonah clicked his tongue as he leaned up from the chair. This girl that he found absolutely enchanting showed absolutely no interest in him. In all honesty, it a slight blow to the ego, and he did his best to shake it off.
Of course. More denial. Jonah followed a diet to maintain his body, but never denied himself of sweets. Heâd just make up for it later at the gym. He was constantly surrounded by female models that would not eat a piece of toast without tracking the calories first. âGluten, huh?â He responded as he stood up, âThatâs rough, definitely. Sorry to hear it.â He gave her a small smile as he was taken to wardrobe to prepare for the photo shoot.
With a sharp looking bow tie and suit, he stood in the main studio waiting for Noelle to come to start. As soon as she entered the room, his jaw may as well have hit the floor. She was something out of this world. Her curves in all the right places combined the feeling that came into whatever room she walked in, it was chilling. Jonahâs eyes widened as she came over, âYou actually look like a real bride.â He joked, a soft laugh following his words as directions came from the photographers mouth.
Noelle began to panic as he explained how obvious her nerves were, and she was hoping he was right about no one else being able to notice. She shrugged slightly, trying to play it off, âI guess Iâm still just trying to get used to this whole thing. I only started working almost a year ago.â She explained. Noelle you idiot he probably doesnât care, she thought before she retracted back into looking at her phone screen. She nodded as he showed sympathy for her fake dietary problems, âItâs definitely a struggle, but itâs manageable.â She shrugged, hoping that he wouldnât bring it up again.
She noticed Jonah staring at her once she walked in and she couldnât help but blush. She smiled slightly, âI think thatâs the whole point,â she chuckled, before realizing how condescending that could have sounded. âIâm sorry, that came out ruder than I had intended it to,â she immediately apologized, hoping he wouldnât get the impression that she was a rude person, because she really didnât want him thinking she was a bitch if they were going to be working together for the day. Before she could say anything more they both were being called over to beginning the shoot.
The entire photoshoot lasted about eight hours, with many different props, sets, and outfit changes. Noelle thought they were about ready to be wrapped up and soon she could head out and go grab some lunch, but before they were dismissed the photographer gave one last direction. âI want to get some shots of you two kissing before we wrap up.â The photographer ordered. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK. That was the only thing that was running through Noelleâs head when she heard that. She hadnât kissed a boy since high school. Probably sophomore year of high school. And even then that was with a boy she had known for like three or so years. Now she was supposed to kiss this guy she had met just eight hours ago. She tried to hide her terror but it was quite evident to everyone that the direction at least surprised her, âIs there a problem?â The photographer asked. Noelle swallowed hard as she shook her head, âN-No. Iâm fine.â She insisted.
If Jonah was deserted on an island, the one thing that he would take would be espresso. With these early morning call times, heâd basically learned how to survive off of it. It was five oâclock in the morning and he couldnât have handled it any better. He was awake and chipper, ready for anything that the day might throw at him. A wedding shoot was something that was a little out of his range. Jonah, being used to modeling for high-fashion brands, knew what he was here for. Although it wasnât something heâd approve of, the check in the bank said otherwise.
Once it was time to meet who he would be working with, Jonah made sure to radiate confidence. Though he was normally on the quiet side, with models who were newer in the industry, it was good to be more assertive. However, once he was brought into the room, as soon as he laid eyes on the beautiful girl in the chair, he felt the air get choked up in his throat. A small smile formed at his lips and the exquisite woman in front of his introduced herself, âIâm Jonah, itâs nice to meet you.â He said with an extended hand, shaking hers gently. He took the seat next to her and swallowed hard, as words seemed impossible at this point. He looked at her with lidded eyes and smirked, âYouâre nervous. Itâs so obvious in your eyes. Donât worry, theyâre not as scary as they look. And there are these doughnuts in the backroom that have extra creme filling. If we get a break, Iâll go back and steal you one.â
Oh god I hope my handâs not sweaty, is my hand sweaty? I canât tell if itâs sweaty or not, fuck! Was all that went through Noelleâs mind during the two seconds they shook hands. She smiled slightly, âNice to meet you too,â she muttered as she went back to her game on her phone, hoping he wouldnât try to force a conversation out of her. She could barely converse with her agent regularly, she wasnât ready to have a full conversation with a guy she just met yet. She tensed up when he sat down next to her, oh god heâs gonna make me talk. She froze and looked up at him when he said she was nervous, âIs it that obvious?â She asked, mortified. She believed she was hiding it at least somewhat, but now that she knew she wasnât it just made her more terrified.
Noelle thought for a moment when he brought up the doughnuts. She had already seen them when she first came in and debated taking one, but then remembered that sweets were not to be included in her strict diet. Her agent had already been pressuring her to lose some weight for a few months now, considering the fact that she was a bit fuller than most other models. So her recent diet included hardly much more than salads, fruits, oatmeal, smoothies, and protein bars. She smiled gently at his offer before shaking her head, âNo thank you, Iâve already eaten...â a truth, she had a couple protein bars before heading to the studio, â... and I canât have gluten...â a lie. She was perfectly able to eat gluten, but she figured that would be a better excuse for him to not get her one than just the fact that she had already eaten.
âMiss Mayor? Weâre ready for you in wardrobe.â An assistant informed Noelle. She nodded to them before turning back to Jonah. âIâll be back, I guess,â she said quietly before leaving her chair and following the assistant to wardrobe. It took over 20 minutes to get the whole outfit on, but soon wardrobe was finished and Noelle saw herself as a beautiful bride. She cracked a smile at herself, âWell this is the closest Iâm probably going to get to a wedding for another twenty years or so.â She laughed at herself and everyone else in the room laughed with her. She could tell that some of the laughs were fake, but at least others were genuine. She stepped out of the dressing room and awaited further instructions in the main studio.
Sleeping. Thatâs what most twenty year olds are supposed to be doing at 5 in the morning. But nope, not Noelle. Once again she was sitting in harsh lights wearing hardly anything else than a robe as she was being poked and prodded by strangers in an attempt to do her hair and makeup. This had been her life for almost a year now, but she was still nervous for every job she showed up to. Nervous thatâd sheâd do something wrong. Nervous that she just wouldnât look quite right, nervous that sheâd leave a bad impression on someone important and then word would get around about it and then she could be out of a job. So far none of those things had happened but it always crossed her mind. Now the nerves were really prominent, because this was probably the biggest gig sheâd been hired for so far, one of the most popular bridal magazines in the world had called and asked for her specifically to model some dresses, and while she was so unbelievable psyched that someone had actually asked for her by name, she always worried that maybe they had just gotten her mixed up with someone else, and they didnât want her at all. But no one had given her the sympathetic look and told her to go home yet, so she guessed she was in the right place.Â
She tried to hide her nerves by playing Candy Crush on her phone as her hair was being done, trying to keep herself busy and not talking to anyone extensively. She wasnât trying to be rude, she was just always a naturally shy person and didnât want to say something wrong. It wasnât until the supervisor of the photoshoot startled her by putting her hand on her shoulder that she actually looked up from her phone. It had been ten years but people touching her suddenly still startled her. âOh, Iâm sorry I didnât mean to scare you,â the woman laughed at Noelleâs reaction. Noelle forced herself to laugh along. âAnyway, Noelle, this is Jonah Benson, heâs going to be your hubby for the day.â the supervisor joked as she stepped aside and Noelle noticed the guy behind her. A boy. Oh god itâs a boy. Noelle thought to herself. Have I not worked with a boy before? I must have... Nope have not had a job with a boy before okay well fuck. She looked at him wide-eyed before forcing herself to say something, âH-Hi, Iâm Noelle.â She held her hand out to him for a handshake, the hair stylist behind her slightly grumbling and yanking her back as she leaned too far forward to reach him. This wasnât going well already.
