"why did you want to come work for damsu in the first place?"
“wait, wait..i’ll tell you only if you promise not to…fire me over this.” noeul sticks out his pinky at the other, very persistent in having the promise become reality, breath reeking of strong artificial cherry flavor. “but i’m going to be honest, i didn’t want to work for damsu. i was just going to, uhh,” he squints, trying to find the best way of wording out his thoughts. boy, he was terrified.
“come in, steal acquire some water, and leave damsu’s building in flames.” he says in one breath, and just as quickly moves on. “but that was a long time ago, when i was…young, and a dumbass, obviously, ha-ha.” he’s regretting having to open up, because he still hasn’t really let go of that goal. “my uncle, i’m sure you know him– right– talked some sense into me, and uh,” noeul hadn’t really planned going this far. he’s probably fucked up, just a little though. “i realized i shouldn’t be wasting & ruining my amazingly high intelligence, and just do things the proper way.”
“i still believe that distribution of water should be done better. i hope my time in damsu will leave a small dent at least. i know i don’t have a say in- anything, and you definitely don’t trust me, but every morning before i arrive to work, i look at the picture of my mother and i remember why i’m doing all of this.” noeul finally shrugs. he wished he could be even more honest with sian.
“i still think i’m your best asset! and i’ll prove it to you, whatever it takes.”
