I read the entirety of MTMTE and LL this summer and I absolutely loved it. I've been practicing my art too so I thought I'd try to draw my favorite character, whirl.

I just saw the backrooms yesterday, really liked the movie. I don't think I can add anything new or profound to the discussion but I wanted to share my thoughts anyway.

I think the movie did a really good job showing off how eerie and unnatural the backrooms were. The AI and memory influences in the backroom's design were really interesting. The scene where it went through different iterations of Mary's childhood home was cool. I interpreted it as layers of dissociation from an unwanted memory. Almost like as her memory of the home warped, the backrooms was changing its perception of the house as well.

Clark and Mary's characters were both also really interesting in my too. Especially how they tied in with the theme of looping. Clark's unwillingness to change and mental decline was really interesting to watch. I thought the shot of Mary staring out the window in the Async facility was a really cool mirror of her childhood being trapped inside by her mom and wanting to leave (And a good example of the looping theme).

I would love to go back through this movie and over analyze the hell out of it because there's just so much to dive into.
