i really love the luka cover of sweet dream because aside from bl8m's voice rivaling that of literal angels (don't get me started on how much i stan him), it's just... so bleak to hear the prince of alnst, the champion himself, sing lines like "The morning probably won't come to me", "Lord, please, when the song is over, please save me", "Take away the weak and small me", and "Show me proof that you're here now, Lord".

It fits really well with a lot of my favourite theories involving Luka... not really wanting any part of this, yet feeling like there is no other way to live for him. It really, truly gives the impression that there is something truly sinister looming over him that won't allow him to be anyone but the miserable, awful person he knows he is.

And the way bl8m sings it too is just.... so soft? It holds none of the power and confidence that his voice had in ruler of my heart-- this Luka is weak and scared and just another human victim of segyein rule, nothing more, nothing less. There is no such thing as power for a human in their society-- even the most outwardly successful humans are just as subject to their whims and could be killed for sport, *or worse*, at any time just like anyone else.

(I'm a firm believer that worse has happened to him than death but that's a whole can of worms and is not the type of theorizing i should attempt to write down at 6 in the morning ✨)
