TWIN SISTER COLOR YOUR LIFE
Twin Sister's delicate balance between twee/dream pop and psych/noise pop is very clever and totally has my full support. 102% enchanting, if not simply memorable among it's peers.
Color Your Life starts off a bit frosty with The Other Side Of Your Face; Undulating, ultra lofi ocean wave/bird/cheering samples flicker in and out of focus. Drones build, swell and fall into what eventually becomes a hauntingly beautiful vehicle for vocalist Andrea Estella's coy lyrics and perfect vowels.
To me, there is definitely something pleasing in the manner Estella curls her "O"s & "R"s. This comes out later on the EP as well. Dope.
The follow up, Lady Daydream, is a warm, cozy, pop perfect hit; Where the melodies could be (maybe, possibly) found here or there among other twee pops, the arrangement and judicious use of aforementioned melodies let the great parts live and breathe when they could otherwise overstay their welcome. Rewind soothes any complaints this could possibly muster.
And while I remain hung up on Lady Daydream, that takes nothing away from everything else! Milk & Honey replaces dreaminess with determination; All Around and Away We Go immediately grants a very pleasant & whimsical twee disco jam. The record closes with a 7 minute ambient pop drone and super cute twee popper which really round out the EP; Both depth & accessibility are equal partners here, with neither rushed into place.
