Just over a year ago, my planned overseas trip was cancelled confining me to Surrey for the remainder of the year. Weirdly, it’s been a good break for me. After 8 years of full time travel, I was burnt out. I’m now starting to feel the travel itch again, but for now, I’m content to enjoy the memories from one of my last trips - the moonscape of Lanzarote. When I moved to the UK in 2009, one of my immediate goals was to travel as much as possible. Our first winter trip was almost cancelled as the UK due to heavy snow. Luckily, our flight was able to get away and arrived for a magical Christmas along the shore of Wolfgangsee in Austria. I’m not a food photographer, but inevitably, travel photography involves a bit of food photography. I chose to share this image due to the memory associated with it. I had been sent to Mendoza to photograph a few of the wine estates and one of them prepared a lunch for me. We sat around a fire as they prepared the most perfect steak I’ve ever tasted, while drinking wine and enjoying views of the snow covered Andes Mountains. I recently enjoyed photographing this incredible renovation and extension in Weybridge, Surrey. I’m loving seeing an emphasis on great outdoor spaces to enjoy a house. I’ve been to Lanzarote 3 times and I’m ready to visit for a fourth time. One of the reasons is this achingly beautiful and wild beach called Playa del Risco.
