One of the biggest differences between their Veilguard and Inquisition ships is the character development, especially from Dorian's side. He used to have a hard time communicating his emotions in the past, often struggling to deal with his feelings and distancing himself as a result. Over the years, he's grown to be more affectionate and loving toward Marel. On the other hand, Marel grows to be more patient and understanding toward Dorian.
I think these tropes describe pavellan in a nutshell. They're opposites in many ways, and they give off so much Old Married Couple energy because of their constant bickering 😂 they also turn out to be more domestic and lovey-dovey in Veilguard, so it's a perfect fit.
They're both very stubborn, even more so during Inquisition — which leads to arguments every now and then. I always compare them to mountain goats butting heads, lmao.
Marel rarely felt jealous over Dorian up until Veilguard. Still, once Dorian becomes Archon, the overwhelming attention he receives ends up bothering Marel somewhat. If someone openly tries to flirt with Dorian, Marel will surely act bitter and hit them with The Death Stare™. Likewise, Dorian used to feel a little more jealous of Marel during his time as the Inquisitor.
I always have a hard time choosing just one love language, so I tend to settle with two for each character. Marel is the type to show his feelings with actions most of the time — subtle touches and caring acts of service are just his thing. Dorian also enjoys touch, but he also values quality time quite a lot (especially during Veilguard).
Dorian is definitely the most likely to burn dinner, lmao. Lucky for him, Marel enjoys cooking and he's good at it, so Dorian doesn't have to worry about burning the kitchen.
Marel 100% hogs the bed, no questions here. He's tall and muscular, and it doesn't help that he falls asleep sprawled all over the mattress. Dorian often complained about it, until he eventually decided to get an extra large bed to fix this issue 😂
I wouldn't describe Dorian as silly, but I've placed him slightly to the left because of his wit and sense of humour.
Once again @catebees has created a banger commission of Mahalla! Look at the flowy Fade smoke on her spirit blade!! Look at her hair!! Look at the details on her gauntlets, and the green lighting, and the fierce expression on her face!! 10/10 as always, I LOVE IT!! :D
