FRUIT 2 Minneola!

this is a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. it tastes like a cartoon orange. or how my brain thinks an orange should taste. like sumos, my first reaction was eh but the more i ate the more i liked it (i got more sumos when i got this). it has really large sections, and i liked how the sections tasted more with the white shell than without. i’m realizing a lot of the easier to obtain weird fruits are fruits that look like oranges but are not. but i got a melon coming up! i like how this tastes more than how orange tastes.

pasta shape 4 small shells. actually not vodka sauce despite the appearance. still no luck finding heart shaped pasta

pasta 3 indomie instant noodle. this devolved into instant noodles quickly. i don’t even eat them that often! i think i’ll count fried/instant noodles as one pasta shape. if i have a different type of instant ramen it won’t increase my pasta shape count. tried to get some weird fruit at costco but they only had normal fruit :(

fruit 1 sumo

At first I thought this was a bland orange. Then I had an orange. The sumo is brighter (more acidic) and the orange more floral. I never really understood the way floral gets thrown around as a flavor adjective until now. But that’s what an orange is comparatively!

Compared to a cutie (clementine) the sumo is sourer. But I’ve had cuties that are probably as sour. I prefer the sumo to both the orange and the cutie I’ve eaten for comparison. The sumo is marketed as sweet, but it’s sourer than the clementine or orange.

kinda annoying to eat.

I understand why vodka sauce calls for tubes now. Sleeping bags of sauce is better than shells. from 11 January 2025
