Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. At some point in the process this became fan art for the podcast I was listening to, “Mabel.” Done in Birmingham Pen Co. Inks Rose Overture, River Twilight and Piano Girl Pink. @birminghampens @podcastmabel #mabelpodcast #birminghampencompany #art #rabbit #1/100 #swift
Goodness!! I just realized I haven’t made note of Dicebox pages here since page 13 of Hell and I just posted page 18 yesterday. I give myself a D- in social media for 2018.
Anyway, you can start with page 14 right here.
Also of note, I have started selling the watercolor/colored ink paintings in my newly reopened Etsy store. Plus everything at my main store is one third off!
I think some of this fan art set will be for clothes as much as characters, though here it’s both. The prompt “poison” made me think of Servalan from “Blake’s 7” and the dress she wore in the episode “Gambit.” This took a bit more than an hour as I was half watching the episode in order to figure out how the damn collar worked. I got distracted by the late, great Jacqueline Pearce’s performance as Servalan as well as my favorite frenemy pairing of Avon and Vila. Done with Nick Stewart’s Mix Set and Diamine Ink’s Poppy Red.
Who else could I do on All Souls Day with the prompt “divided” but Beatrice from “Over the Garden Wall?” Line art done in my combo of DeAtramentis Document Brown and Black with a Benu Briolette Luminous Blue pen (fine). Colored with Iroshizuku Ama-iro and Tsukuba-yo (blues), Papier Plume Caramel and Lovers Red with help from Kaweco Smokey Grey and Sailor Apricot.
I’ve been inspired by Inktober to do a 100 day exercise. I actually plan to use last year’s prompts to assist me, though last night I really wanted to try an experiment with leaves. I reckon I can still call it swift in the manner and time it took for both. Both done with Nick Stewart’s inks Desert Rose and Dune Yellow.
Day 31 of Inktober could only be a slice of the birthday cake I made for my daughter. And I finished as I begun by using the Nick Stewart Fountain Pen Ink Mix set.
Day 30 of Inktober done in I think my favorite ink to paint with, Krishna Ink’s Cinnamon. I used bleach to paint the jolts of electricity.
Day 29 of Inktober done in KWZ Ink’s Honey and Sailor Jentle Ink Doyou. Naturally this is Laird’s Applejack, being at heart a Jersey girl.
Day 28 of Inktober, which was done before 27 as I was set what to do for this prompt. Done in Iroshizuku inks Fuyu-gaki (persimmon) and Chiku-rin (bamboo forest).
Day 27 of Inktober, done in—appropriately enough—Robert Oster’s Ink Thunderstorm. This prompt held me up as I was having no luck with my original idea and realized I had no interest in actually doing it. This was a lot more fun.
Day 26 of Inktober done in Diamine Inks Ancient Copper and Earl Grey. An obvious choice, but hey.
Day 25 of Inktober and I’m back on track. Inks used are Sailor Jentle Tokiwa-Matsu and 3 Oysters Chili Red.
Switching up the preview image from hands to feet for this page of Dicebox.
Day 24 of Inktober, the prompt being “chop,” was a challenge as I wanted to concentrate on objects and animals for this one. Then I scanned my desk. Done in Krishna Inks Brown Pink and Cinnamon.
Day 23 of Inktober done in Krishna Inks Vaikhari.
Day 22 of Inktober. My grandmother’s baroque pearls aren’t the most expensive thing in my life; that would be my daughter. But I would be hard pressed to replace them. Done in Krishna Ink Lavender Black and Diamine Earl Grey.
