I’m kurdish and my native land is Baluchistan . Some people won’t know what is the background of my ethnic group so I am going to share something very important which will matter the freedom of baluchistan from nazi pakistani government. Baloch has a separate identity like Kashmir and wants to separate itself from Pakistan because we are not getting the citizen rights.

Prior to independence from British rule, the province of Balochistan comprised of four princely states; Kalat, Lasbela, Kharan and Makran. Three months before Partition, Mohammad Ali Jinnah mooted an independent state of Kalat which would consist of all four princely states. Accordingly a communique, was released on August 11, 1947, which gave an independent sovereign status to Kalat.

By October of 1947, however, Jinnah changed his mind regarding the status of Kalat and voiced his demand for Kalat to formally join the state of Pakistan. The Khan of Kalat refused to let go off his independent sovereign status and a standstill pursued between two leaders regarding the status of present day Balochistan.

On March 26, 1948, the Pakistan Army moved into Balochistan and captured Kalat on April 1, 1948. Following the capture of Kalat, cases of military atrocities have been a recurrent occurrence in the province. Acts of ill treatment by officials in the region included torture, arbitrary arrests, executions and acts of indiscriminate violence. As of 2006, close to 4,000 people had been reported to be missing which included students and political activists.

Pakistani army is still torturing the civilians of balochistan . A severe human rights violation is being carried out. Recently a few days back , pakistani government killed remaining baloch people . We are helpless . We want freedom . My dearest people are losing their lives fighting for their identity and I can’t see it .

Just like Kashmir , we have a separate identity of our own . We are not pakistani descendants!!!

Circular economy and reuse in the construction sector

Project Day with in-house presentation

Needless to say, we were a bit disappointed to not be able to meet in person yet again. Last fall we had high hopes to all meet for Project Day on site in Stuttgart after 2 years, but now hosting virtually was the only option. Nevertheless, the program was great. In project presentations, our engineers showed the sides that we rather not like to highlight – things that we were not so successful with. With that input, we went into small-grouped exchange rounds: because, “you learn best from mistakes.”

We also discussed new possibilities and planning approaches. The impulse lecture by Kerstin Müller, Dipl. Ing. Architektin I Fachpartnerin ecobau, was particularly exciting. She studied architecture at Stuttgart University as well as at the École d’Architecture de Lyon. In 2020 she was elected co-president of the association Cirkla in Switzerland. She is responsible for the content strategy of the company Zirkular and represents their reuse projects in public. The ReUse planners of Zirkular support, for example, architects in the planning and implementation of durable buildings, whether in new construction or renovation. As ‘component hunters’, they search for and find reusable components and materials and then detail solutions according to the principle of 'design for disassembly’. This means that the projects implemented today must be reusable by future generations. Zirkular matches the individual components of the building systems accordingly and designs the building projects in such a way that they can also be easily disassembled and reused in the future.

Kerstin Müller inspired us with her presentation, especially with the project examples and the unexpected possibilities of reusing building materials. The visionary recyclers even found a glass builder who reassembles old glazing into high-quality laminated glass. We were very impressed, and our Renovation Working Group is taking the presentation as inspiration to expand our approach.
