Her eyes hold a concerned glint as she watches Whitney glance somewhere off-screen, to which she can only assume is where her azumarill is laying.
“Are they curled in? Rolled more than once?” she asks. “If they’re right down to her head, then she’s sore. Especially if she won’t let you have a look. The azumarill line are fantastic at filtering sound so water doesn’t usually bother them. Maybe it’s her inner ear?”
The redhead laughs lightly, not smugly at all. “Their taila iare kind of like a bubble and it’s thin enough when you hold it up to sunlight. You can see inside it. It’s how they stay afloat and find the surface again if they’re diving. Kind of like a buoy.” she explains. “Try petting her to calm down and ask if you can check, and if that doesn’t work, then I’ll tell you what to do.”
“Eeyup, they’re right down tight to her head, the poor dear.” She paused to continue to listen to Misty.
“Oh, ain’t ever occurred to me t’pass a light through their tails, huh. Neat! Alright, gimme a sec. Up y’go, Azuzu.”
She reached down to scoop up her Azumarill - blanket and all. Then, once she had Azuzu safely in her arms, she gave her ailing aqua rabbit a smile. “Hey, y’gonna let me take a peek at’cha ears now, cutie?”
She let out a sigh as Azuzu shook her head again. “Still no, huh... well, girl, I gotta do somethin’ t’help you out, y’know?” Another pause, as Azuzu pointed at the screen, and her ears relaxed ever so slightly.
“Eh? Y’want her t’take a look, then? Ha, y’wound me, ‘zuzu. But alrighty, here. Misty, lemme know what’cha see, ‘kay?”
She held Azuzu a bit closer to the screen, and slowly, wincing, the Azumarill unrolled her ears - and it looked like she had a nasty ear infection going on. In truth, she was refusing to let Whitney see because she didn’t want to stress her Trainer out with just how bad they had gotten.
