Knowledge is power. Louis Rwagasore, the first democratically elected leader of Burundi, unwavering anti-imperialist and Pan-Africanist who lead Burundi's independence struggle against Belgian colonialism. Rwagasore exposed the colonialists for striking tensions between ethnic groups as means of ensuring the continued exploitation of the nations mineral wealth, and withdrew his privileges as crown prince, whilst his royal family was backed backed by the Belgians, in favor of leading his anti-colonial struggle. Rwagasore was assassinated by the Belgians on October 31 1961. Join us: Pan-African Renaissance
