“Those who don’t feel this Love pulling them like a river, those who don’t drink dawn like a cup of springwater or take in sunset like supper, those who don’t want to change, let them sleep.”
— Jalal al-Din Rumi
“I am guilty of robbing myself of my own happiness.”
— Karen Isabella
I dream of a love that even time will lie down and be still for.

teskhamen-the-great:
Teskhamen raised an eyebrow as Sam started rasing his hackles. “And how much worse will it be when he hears it from Cole instead of you?” he asked, watching him quietly. “I’m not arguing with you, Sam. I’m just telling you that you need to think about the fallout that this will cause.” He shook his head slightly before chuckling. “Armand can indeed be a bit of a pain.” Though he had to agree. He didn’t like the idea of sending Rian away.
“I don’t want to, but to protect him, I’d do anything I had to do…” he said softly. “I love him more than my life, Sam.” He wrapped his arms around Sam as the alpha wolf pressed closer to him, finally just shifting in his seat to pull the other man into his lap against his chest, arms wrapped around him to secure him in his place and raised one hand to stroke the other’s hair gently. “We will figure it out. We’re nothing if not resourceful.”
First thing was first, he just needed to figure out if Armand had told anyone. Was he alone in New York? Was Daniel with him? He worried that Armand might drag Daniel into something that would be very bad for the youngest of his line. If Daniel were cornered by an older werewolf… it could be very bad indeed.
He grunted at the vampire, trying hard to keep his temper in check "I know. I don't feel good about it myself, but it didn't make sense ta turn it down." Sam risked a grin at the vampire when he admitted Armand could be a pain "yeah? Maybe it's something running in the family then. A bloodline of brats and pains in the arse."
Sam's large body folded to fit in Teskhamen's lap, easily curling against the firm frame until he fit perfectly "I know you do. I'd do the same and he's not even my mate. But he's got a harder time of kicking yer arse than mine." He looked a bit annoyed when thinking about how the tiny little nugget of a wolf somehow always managed to win when they had a fight, knowing he'd probably win again when they had the fight over Cole.
His thoughts swirled back to Armand, his thoughts spinning until his eyes closed, the exhaustion of the last few days catching up to him. He meant to discuss matters further and possibly come up with some kind of plan, instead, he fell asleep on top of a vampire.
“You know he’s going to find out sooner or later, and it’s better if it comes from you and not say… Cole?” He asked, watching Sam carefully. “You know as well as I what Rian would say to this…” he said simply, shaking his head slightly. “Yeah, you probably will,” he said softly before shaking his head. “How else can you think of to contain this, Sam? He’s not going to stop. Every wolf in that city now is a means to an end to him. Armand is a fucking pit bull, once he sinks his teeth into something, he doesn’t let go. Just ask Daniel.”
He looked away, out the window towards the patio where Rian had been before and bit his lip slightly. “I don’t know, Sam. But I can’t go to the Chateau and talk to them there. Too many ears. Everyone in that castle would hear us. I can’t take them to the Talamasca… because… well. Yeah. That just wouldn’t work. Not even the Talamasca know that I am a vampire, I keep my appearances with them few and far between so they don’t get suspicious.” He sighed. “We can have Rian not be here… perhaps. Maybe just you and I. The pack is safe in Norway, just have Rian go there for a bit, or maybe send him on some pointless job?”
He reached out, lightly resting his hand on the side of Sam’s neck. “It’s alright. Everyone makes mistakes.” He just hoped that this one didn’t bring everything that they’d built over the last three-hundred years to a grinding halt. Or worse, an explosion. He picked up his phone then, and tried to dial Armand’s number. “It’s daylight in New York so I’ll only get his voice mail…” And sure enough, Armand’s voice mail picked up. “Armand, this is Teskhamen, I need for you to call me as soon as you awaken.” He glanced at the clock. “Should be a few hours from now, I’ll still be up. This is important.” And he hung up, setting the phone on the desk.
The Viking gave Tes a dark look "he'll get on me case about sending his puppy inta war. He wouldn't blink if it was anyone else. He'd agree I was doing my job, thinking about the large picture and who is most likely to succeed where all we old folks fail. But he won't see that once it's one of his rescue puppies, least of all that one" he puffed his chest up as if he was already having the fight with the hybrid. Orange eyes narrowed "he sounds like a pain in the arse."
"You want us ta send him away? Are you prepared ta deal with the fire-breathing dragon that will come back if he finds out?" he quirked a brow "cause I'm not sure I want ta have that kind of fight with him." He leaned into the hand touching his neck, going silent while the other made the call. Once he hung up he moved close, dropping the shields he had up for anyone but this man. He became just Sam while sliding close, seeking comfort from someone that that would provide without questioning it "we'll figure out something. We always do."
norse-alpha:
He looked up in surprise at the question “there are at least three different packs of Bonegnawers in New York. They keep their numbers small but I doubt I could convince them ta move from their territory. They guard the people living on the streets and they defend their turfs fiercely” he scratched his beard again “and there’s like 15 glasswalkers in the top businesses around the city” he paused for a long time “and Cole. Whom just went undercover with a firm run by Pentex.”
Sam looked like he was shrinking a bit when the immortal looked at him again “I don’t want ta kill him. It was just…a question.” The Viking frowned a bit “I came to you first,Tes. Tamlin would overreact. He’d beat my arse then kill Armand. You know how he is about keeping things secret. He only lets you be part of our world because you’ve made things easier fer him.” He shifted almost nervously in his seat, smelling the frustration, feeling it build in the air.
Teskhamen froze. Glasswalkers. Cole. He looked over at Sam then. “Does Rian know that Cole is embedded in there?” he asked softly, knowing that Rian probably would not be pleased about the situation. He was exceptionally protective of the young glasswalkers. He ran a hand through his hair. “Do you understand what you’ve done? Armand won’t stop, you know. He will scour that city until he finds you again. Or someone like you. He’s got that… stubborn tenacity. Especially for New York. Because that is his territory. So now he’ll be determined to find out how many wolves are in his territory.”
At least Tamlin didn’t know yet. “Then we might have a chance to contain this… we… we should probably bring Armand here. Or he’ll never stop. And that might draw Tamlin’s gaze.” He sank back into his seat. “If he hasn’t told Marius yet, he will. He can’t keep anything a secret from him for very long.” He looked over at Sam. “You’ve effectively pulled the vampires in to the inner circle… I hope it doesn’t signify the end of my bloodline.” Who would he side with if push came to shove? The wolves were his family, but - so were the vampires.
He bowed his head into his hands on his desk. “What a mess…” he whispered softly. Could he go against the entire Vampire Court? Because that’s what it would be. If something happened to Armand. To Marius. Lestat wouldn’t let that go. He’d never let it go. Tamlin would consider them a threat then. So it wouldn’t stop with his bloodline. It would be the entire coven.
The alpha didn't quite meet Teskhamen's eyes when glancing up "mh, no. He doesn't need ta know, he's not assigned to that mission" his shoulders drew up a bit, knowing that wouldn't matter to Rian in the slightest. His eyes narrowed in annoyance "I know I fucked up. No need ta rub ut in" teeth bared a bit "I guess I'll have ta return."
He looked up in surprise "bring him here? And what if he's told Marius? Do we bring him in too?" he ran a hand through his hair "then what next? What happens once they realize you've turned one of us? What if our side realizes Rian ain’t different due ta his bloodline but due to being a fecking vampire?" he groaned. These had been the things they had gone over many times in the past, talked in circles around it without ever coming to any solution. There was no way of knowing how it would play out until it did. The day was always going to come, but Sam had never in a million years thought he'd be the one to be the catalyst.
Orange eyes focused on the vampire in front of him, his eyes softening, his hand reaching to touch his arm "I am sorry."

Teskhamen was running through scenarios in his mind, how he could rectify this, what he would do if it got too far before he was able to do something about it. He had to work quickly, god only knew how far it had gotten. Had Armand told anyone? Perhaps he hadn’t told Marius but Daniel? Louis? Who else was Armand close with? Benjimen? Sybelle? Who might any of them tell? It could be back at the court in a matter of minutes. And any of the vampires there within earshot of someone sharing the news.
The young wolves would be in danger, how many immortals would want a pet werewolf? Teskhamen could already think of a handful who would love to get their hands on a werewolf. He blinked, looking over at Sam as he realized the man was talking again, he was so busy running through the information, he’d nearly forgotten the questions he’d posed to the alpha wolf. He’d left quickly, but that didn’t mean Armand wouldn’t continue to look. “How many wolves are in New York right now?” he asked softly. “Can you pull any of them? Temporarily?”
He stood and moved to a filing cabinet to pull out a few Talamascan files of vampires known to frequent New York. Though he froze at Sam’s last suggestion. Kill him? Yes it made sense. But.. kill him? He turned slowly to face Sam. “You want to kill my grand-fledgling? Armand is of my blood. I will not tolerate someone just… killing him. Besides, who would it be? You? You want to go and kill him? Or would you tell Tamlin to send someone? You and I both know who he’d send. You want to have him make Rian kill his own blood?”
He shook his head. “No. Killing him is not an option. I won’t allow it.” He would have to work even quicker now. If Sam were harboring these thoughts, how long before Tamlin would? Did Tamlin even know? “Who all have you told this to, Sam?” he asked abruptly. “Does Tamlin know?” Was Tamlin already devising a way to get ride of Armand? He picked up his phone, dialing Marius. He cursed softly as he got his voice mail and snapped angrily to the phone. “Damn it, Marius, if I can figure out how to work a goddamned cell phone then so can you. Answer your goddamned phone.” He hung up angrily and had to fight to keep from slamming the phone down onto his desk. What a mess.
