Jazz is positively the sweetest cat in the world. Perhaps she is grateful for being rescued (from a kill list) or nursed to health after she came down with liver lipidosis? The stress of the shelter took its tall and Jazz stopped eating. In a week or so her gray ears turn yellow and we rushed her to a vet. She was prescribed a feeding tube and bed rest. Fast foward 2 months - Jazz has blossomed into the a plump sweetheart and is ready for a home!

Midnight says meow-lo from 1122 zip code. His family was spayed and neutered and his siblings adopted. He is still waiting for his forever home. Midnight is playful, sweet and very handsome. He loves people, cats and kittens. He is a meower and loves to stick his paws through the cage doors at adoption events.
speaking from personal experience, Midnight is absolutely the best cat ever. He’s gentle and perfect for anyone looking to have a sweet, sleek black kitty in their family.

Hover Cat, Bitchcakes, NBR, and the NYC Marathon
We got a facebook message early in the week asking for help getting two kittens living in a hole in a Greenpoint street to safety. We were in the middle of two tnr and spay/neuter projects and could only offer advice and help ASAP. North Brooklyn Cats is a very small group of individuals who do rescue when we have the space, time and money... that's our own money and whatever help from friends and other groups can offer. We're not a non-profit and we don't have a shelter or permanent adoption space. It's hard to say no to some of the pleas that come in daily, but we do what we can and try to direct people to resources and give the best advice we can.
The woman who contacted us managed to get the kittens to safety, has taken them to the vet and found homes for both! We'll offer help with the spay/neuter when they're settled in and big enough. The two adult cats will be humanely trapped, vetted and neutered and returned to their "hole" in the street! It's actually some kind of tunnel under the sidewalk next to an industrial building. The film crews that park their trucks there and security staff on the block are aware of the cats and they were well stocked with food and water. We'll try to make contact with the feeders and get a better idea of what's needed to keep the cats safe.
Jay Z's taken, but you can adopt Clifford! Info is here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/26259493

It's Back To School/Kitten Adoption Time!
Dreams Are Real
In March of 2011, Eva Prokop, volunteer photographer and cat rescuer, fell in love with a black and white cat named Jesse. He was a big handsome cat with a thick plush coat and extra toes on his already substantial feet! She did what she had to do and "pulled" him. Pulled is the term that is used to describe getting cats and kittens out of harms way, in this case it was New York City's Animal Control shelter where in the dog days of summer it's common for them to kill over 40 cats and kittens daily. Jesse made it to Brooklyn and with his good looks and charm got adopted fairly quickly.
Fast forward to 2013 and a delightful video pops up on the internet. It's called "Dreams Are Real". Chances are you will watch it multiple times. The cheerful but haunting soundtrack will give you a serious earworm! Someone in the vast and devoted internet cat community recognized Jesse, who is now named Buster and a new internet star was born. Tonight, 8/28, is the Internet Cat Video Festival Premier in Minnesota. Will "Dreams Are Real" make it into the program? It's probably too late, but watch for it next year or maybe at the local Internet Cat Festival in Greenpoint, Brooklyn October 25th. Get your tickets now, they'll sell out fast with all the crazy cat people in New York City. One of North Brooklyn Cats own rescued kittens DID make it into the festival this year! See the video of Albert the kitten and Spoto, the WIlliamsburg dog who loves kittens here: Little Kitten Challenges Big Dog.
You can watch the Internet Cat Video Festival streaming LIVE tonight via Animal Planet. All the big stars will be there: Grumpy Cat, Henri Le Chat Noir creator Will Braden, Nyan Cat creator Chris Torres, Keyboard Cat creator Charlie Schmidt, Kittens Inspired by Kittens star Maddie Kelly, Lil Bub, An Engineer’s Guide to Cats creators Paul Klusman and TJ Wingard, and Pudge the Cat. Albert, our bottle baby kitten from the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens won't be making an appearance but watch for his 28 seconds of fame!
There were NEVER such devoted sisters! Help these dazzling Russian Blue kitties named Helen and Mona in New York City find a home with your re-blogs! Email [email protected] to find out more.
Misao and Fukumaru. “We will never be apart.”
12 years ago, Japanese photographer, Miyoko Ihara (伊原 美代子) started to take photographs of her grandmother, Misao. Born in 1981 in Chiba (Japan), Miyoko Ihara has studied under Kenji Higuchi (樋口健二), after graduating from the Press Photography Course at the Nippon Photography Institute in 2002. Miyoko is also a member of The Photographic Society of Japan.”
“Under the sun, everyday is a good day. Another good day, Fukumaru”, Misao. Eight years ago, Misao found a odd-eyed kitten in the shed. She named the cat “Fukumaru” in hope that “God of fuku” (good fortune) comes and everything will be smoothed like a “maru” (circle)”.
“We’ll never be apart!”, says Misao to Fukumaru. Both of them live in a tiny world, with dignity, with mutual love. Still today, under the blue sky, Misao and Fukumaro work in the fields and in these natural surroundings, where they shine like the stars.”
