Silent film actress Bessie Love in the early 1920s. Today, September 10th, is Love’s birthday. Bessie Love was born Juanita Horton on September 10th, 1898, in Midland, Texas. Throughout her early career, which began in 1916, she played mainly waifish ingenues, leading to an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in BROADWAY MELODY in 1929. Her film work continued into the 1980s.
