Hi yall, I’m a 20 year old transwoman and I almost managed to save all the money I need for my bottom surgery.. The money goes towards an account I’ve saved for cover the cost of the surgery and living costs since I’ll be out of work for a while since I’ll be recovering. I’m only $300 short of my goal and I really would appreciate it if y'all could get me there. if you can’t donate a reblog would also mean so much to me

people always act like there’s such a hard line between “psychotic person” and “normal person”, and I feel like that plays a lot into the dehumanization psychotic people face. cause once a nonpsychotic person internalizes this logic, suddenly we’re attractions and interesting and a fun research subject cause we’re just so fucking other that we become wholly unrelatable. for the nonpsychotic person, it’s unimaginable what psychosis must “really” feel like. so they treat us like a fictional species just trying to understand our existence. and they don’t worry about how their actions might affect us any more than they’d worry about insulting a vulcan by calling the vulcan thought process “just so interesting!”.

but in reality…. the difference between a psychotic person and a nonpsychotic person is not so stark. all human brains are prone to psychosis. all humans are capable of experiencing psychosis in one way or another. anyone could develop a full blown psychotic disorder at any time, no one is born immune to this. and while there’s some contexts in which it’s necessary to differentiate who does or doesn’t experience these symptoms of course, largely I think nonpsychotic people are doing themselves a disfavor - and being ableist in the process - by ignoring the hard truth of the matter: us psychotic people are exactly the same as them.

#and also like for many people its not as intense as a lot of nonpsychotic people think it is #like yeah im super paranoid constantly right now but unless you see me venting or want to come into my home then you wouldnt notice

these tags are true within themselves and a fair addition - so I have 0 intention of putting anyone on blast rn cause this isn’t wrong.

But I want to be clear: I wrote this post SPECIFICALLY thinking of more marginalized psychosis experiences. because it’s so…. easy…. in a lot of ways to say “I can be paranoid / anxious / believe ~quirky~ things, but I’m still completely functional. I still act normal! and u wouldn’t be able to tell I’m different just by looking at me :-) see I’m just like you!”

and if that’s the way someone wants to talk about themselves, great! like I said. this isn’t wrong, and some psychotic people are like this.

but when I say “we’re exactly like you” I mean ALL of us. I mean the people you can tell are psychotic. I mean the psychotic people who are “hoarders” and live in houses full of compacted half-decomposed trash. I mean poor psychotic people. homeless psychotic people. people who can’t hold jobs or are dependent on family. “a danger to themselves or others” psychotic people. the “well I was hospitalized for depression one time but at least I wasn’t like them” people - who you think can’t hear the things you say about us. but we do. I’m thinking about those of us with our symptoms joked about on social media without our permission. us with poor hygiene, “gross” clothing, “obnoxious” personalities. I’m including those of us who’s realities aren’t “digestible” by those who don’t experience them firsthand. those intricate and convoluted “but that’s obviously not true?” type delusions.

cause look, angels visit me in the middle of the night just like in the fucking bible cause I’m Special, and they give me visions of the future and tell me about how the world is gonna end, and they teach me magic powers - and it’s Insane, yes, but I believe it, unshakably, and I act out on it compulsively in my day to day life. to the discomfort of others I’m Visibly WEIRD more often than not, I talk weird and act weird and move weird – yet I’m still Just Like You, nonpsychotic people. You’re no “better” than this. No better than me on my “can’t pretend to be human” or “breakdown in public” days. Cause all it takes is one bad day with the right bad luck, and you’ll be right here with me too.

You weren’t born immune to psychosis; you were raised to be ableist.

That’s the point I need nonpsychotic people to internalize. respect all of us or respect none of us.

i love how whenever something gets popular the underground tormented avant garde bloggers start becoming self conscious of liking it/finding it funny, and it eventually evolves into aggression towards it. doesnt matter what it is. unrelated but i saw someone call isopods cringe today
