the first is “et in arcadia ego,” which is of course in latin, likely referencing french & italian baroque memento mori paintings with classical themes. the phrase itself is potentially derived from a line in vergil’s fifth eclogue, & if the courier takes gannon to fortification hill, he’ll ask if he’s “playing vergil to your dante.” it is also a pun on his own name.

the second is “oh! dammit.”
