It had started with a smooth gray rock that Ava had found while training. “Here!” She said cheerfully, pressing the stone into Beatrice’s palm.
Beatrice could only stare, “Ava, what is this?”
“It’s a cool rock I found,” Ava shrugged, “thought you might like it.”
“Ah,” Beatrice said. “Well, it’s not flat enough for skipping, but—“
“Oh don’t worry,” Ava said quickly “you don’t have to keep it.”
Beatrice shook her head, furrowing her eyebrows adorably. “No, I’ll keep it. It means something to you, so I’ll keep it.”
“Oh,” Ava coughed, “that’s—I—great! Glad you like it. You can throw it at your enemies.” She joked.
Little did she know, Beatrice didn’t take it as a joke. During a fight, Ava noticed something small and grey fly through the air and hit an FBC in the face. She turned around to see Beatrice holding another stone, preparing to throw.
Ava helps her collect back all the rocks after every fight. She once brought Beatrice a heart shaped rock. Ava picks it up from the ground for the first time with the biggest smile. She turns to Beatrice and says: “that’s the power of true love, Bea.”
After Ava’s gone, Beatrice keeps all the rocks in a small pouch. All except for the heart shaped one, she drills a little hole in that one and turns it into a necklace, so she always has a little piece of Ava with her. So Ava is always close to her heart.
