She became a character before she became confident.
Her name was Tia Morgan.
Before I was a mother, before I was steady —
I was still becoming.

*I wrote this for a psychology class a few years ago. Reading it now, I realize I’ve always been thinking about identity and the environments that shape us. I didn’t know I was already becoming.*
Where We Grow From
The implications of the nature–nurture issue show that human development takes place through both nature and nurture. A person is influenced not only by their biological makeup but also by the environment they grow up in, along with the cultures that surround them and sometimes overlap.
I believe the best parenting style is authoritative parenting because it teaches that there are rules and consequences, while also acknowledging a child’s feelings. It is important for children to know their emotions are valid. This style allows your child’s needs and wants to be supported while also providing comfort when they are upset.
In many cases, children who hit puberty earlier than others are often picked on in school. School culture plays an important role in adolescent identity development. Explorative learning experiences should be meaningful and take place in a supportive classroom environment.
