What North Koreans Think Of South Korea (Part 2) | ASIAN BOSS
Pilju:âI found myself contemplating suicide.â
Interviewer: âWhy?â
Pilju: âBecause...as a North Korean, I just couldnât see how I could compete with South Koreans to get ahead in life.I also suffer from hemophilia so when I bleed, it doesnât stop. Could someone sick like me survive South Korean society? No, I didnât think I could. SO I decided to kill myself. but at the moment I felt a sense of regret. Other than the moment of arriving at Incheon Airport, getting my social security and student cards, I had no other happy memories. I finally have freedom after risking my life, but why is my life so miserable? I asked myself that questions and thatâswhen I realized that I was pursuing the same materialistic goals as my South Korean friends.... When I first came to South Korea, I laughed at those that committed suicide but I finally understood their pain. I can see it from both perspectives now....  â
Self Notes:
Materialistic desires may take away what makes one happy.
Dont forget what truely bring you joy
Interviewer: How would North Koreans feel about reunification?Â
Pilju: âEver since the Kim Il-Sung Administration, North Koreans have always been taught that we are one Korea. Part of that was obviously politically-motivated brainwashing but still, we were always taught the two Koreas need to be reunified. â
Interviewer:Â âBut the reason for the reunification...â
Pilju: âwas because we were told South Korea was full of homeless peopleâ
Interviewer: âSo North Korea had to rescue them.â
Pilju: âRightâ
Interviewer: âWhat about now? Because they must be aware how wealthy South Korea is. Despite that, would North Koreans still want reunification?â
Pilju: âProbably not the ones in charge because they wouldnât want to be held accountable for the crimes they committed.  They know that. â
Interviewer: âAnd ordinary citizens?â
Pilju: âOrdinary North Koreans have nothing to lose. SO theyâd want reunification because life is too tough right nowâ
Interviewer: âDo you personally want reunification?â
Rachel:Â âOf course I do. The reason why I started a YouTube channel in South Korea was to help speed up the process of reunification. Thatâs why.â
Interviewer: âHow realistic is reunification? â
Rachel: âThe thing about reunification is... it will only work if both North and South Koreans see eye to eye.â
Interviewer: â Then how do you think South Koreans feel about reunification? Â â
Rachel: â...Unless South Koreans are properly educated on reunification my guess is most of them shouldn't care. â
Pilju: âIâm a defector so of course I want reunification more than anyone. Because I want to visit home. That said, I donât think the time is right. â
Interviewer: âWhy do you say that?â
Pilju: âBecause...South Korea is too uninformed about North Korea. South Koreaâs perception of North Korea is stuck in the late 90s to early 2000s. Some high school and college students are still fascinated to see me and ask if we use the same language. Thatâs how little education there is about reunification. Even if North Koreans are brainwashed, at least they are constantly being taught about reunification. There are over 30,000 North Korea defectors in South Korea right now. Yet, people know nothing about North Koreans nor do they try to mix with them. Right now, North Koreans have such a good impression of South Korea and as soon as we reunify, they will come to Soth Korea. When they do, we can expect a serious clash and the social conflict will exceed anything we can imagine. I think that will create serious economic and cultural issues to the point Korea could fall. This is a serious issue and for that reason, Iâm against it until people's mindsets change first. Â â
Being a late bloomer
âeveryoneâs path is going to be so differentâ âI hate people who will hate on others because of their current situationâ âsometimes time is all that we needâ
LIFE -Everyoneâs life is SO different WHEN ONE IS A LATE BLOOMER -They experience regret    -feels like one âwastedâ their time DONâT FEEL NORMAL     -Youâre normal BLOOM~ ITâS OKAY    - What matters is the final results -you will get there, itâs just going to take some time -took her time to focus -donât feel pressured to do things at a certain age, do you WHO CARES? -If you're happy thatâs what matters.
The Benefits of Reading Books
âLeaders are Readersâ
âReaders are not always leaders, but leaders are always readersâ
Perks of buying a book -When one pays for a book, they will pay more attention. If one pays more attention they will apply it in their life. -You donât need wife/ donât need to charge it -you can use it as an escape Recommended books - The Power of Now - Eckart Tolle - Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki
Time Management Tips | JaneandJady
TO DO LISTS Styles: -Make a to do list the night before/ Morning of   *Write in Order of the Thing to accomplish   *Only put time for when you plan to sleep, wake up, and do readings. -Make list for that week -Exam week: make a Specific to so list   *specific time with specific action ex. BE REALISTIC Â
Do It Yourself: How to make stuff happen | Dee Bleakley | TEDxSouthmoorAcademy
-80%~90% of âtalented peopleâ is HARD WORK -Just putting 1 hour per day (excluding weekends) will make a difference. Q: Where am I putting my time & efforts?
âThe problem is easy didnât really lead anyone to success â
-School is âcoolâ in primary school and university, but not really in high school.
âIf you want to be successful in something your going to have to put time and effort into itâ
Procrastination: putting in effort in things you donât need to do to avoid what you need to do.
Q: Why bother?
-what one does now affects the future
The effort I put now, will effect myself in the future
-Two big excuses we give:
1) âItâs impossibleâ - we convince ourselves that certain things are impossible
2)Â âItâs pointlessâ - we convince ourselves that certain things are pointless
-In our world academics success is based by our grades
-Blood, sweat, and tears to reach the gold medal (:
-Give our passions/ desires a shot and if we fail, well at least you now know..
âLife is pretty is quick and if flies byâ
-Always see the bigger picture
-before you pass someone for being successful because of natural talent, check if theyâre doing something that your not that you can improve on.
-Donât get jealous, instead find a way to get inspired or motivated by whatever made you jealous.
âPeople who view success donât get jealous about it, people who are successful get inspired and motivated by itâ
Q: How much are you willing to do it yourself? -believe in yourselfÂ
The prison of your mind | Sean Stephenson | TEDxIronwoodStatePrison
The speaker in this talk is Sean Stephenson who is an author and therapist. He said "never believe a prediction that doesn't empower you". If one believes predictions that doesn't empower them, then one will "wither and die" physically or spiritually. -not your condition -must adapt in whatever environment one is in, it's attitude that brings value to the human race no matter what condition or title one is in. -insecurity make people seek material things -people want to be loved, and by themselves sorry for self, or bullying yourself > dangerous true freedom is dropping out of the mind to the heart <chose in behavior and attitudeÂ
