the book of kells (neé the book of iona since I’ll be going off of that theory) was written as a depiction of the four gospels in an artistic form. the secret of kells explains its history, such that under the tumultuous pillaging of native villages by Vikings, the manuscript was transported to kells in hopes that it would be protected. kells was burned, and the book stolen, bound to be forgotten in time. its papers were found many years later, bound together, and kept safe in the Vatican until it was moved to Trinity College in Dublin. since the book of kells was said to emit light, and since its cover, which has never been discovered, contained a crystal which served as an eye (such that “light” and the eye are co-dependent; the light would not exist without the eye) what if this is part of the crystal’s history after the dark crystal?
