1987 Buick Grand National
The 1987 Buick Grand National is the final—and fiercest—version of Buick’s legendary turbocharged street machine. Dressed in sinister all-black paint, the GN looked like it meant business, and it absolutely delivered.
Under the hood was a 3.8L turbocharged and intercooled V6, pushing out 245 horsepower and a whopping 355 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 4-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, it could rocket from 0–60 mph in under 5 seconds—faster than many Corvettes and Mustangs of the time.
1987 was the Grand National’s final year, making it the most refined and powerful version ever built. With its stealthy look, brutal acceleration, and cult following, the ’87 Grand National remains one of the most feared and revered American performance cars of the 1980s
