Next Season Announcement!
Vampire: The Masquerade: Blood Doll - Season 2 "The Exile and Corruption of Cassandra Davril" will start its weekly release on October 5th, 2026.
Dear audio drama community,
Please let our listeners be adults.
And please encourage adults to listen to audio dramas.
Not every audio drama needs to start like Raiders of the Lost Ark. In fact, it infantilizes our medium.
Source
Not every audio drama needs to provide a fucking sugar rush on hitting the Play button. Imagine if every film critic downgraded every film that didn't have a Wowzee Immediate Action Hook. What would that do to the very medium of film? It would train for juvenile expectations for a complex medium.
Audio dramas have ceased to be old-time radio, but you know what OTR had? Quiet, chilling, transfixing introductions. If you start your show with an adrenaline shot, it creates expectations of what the rest of the show will provide. Not every show has to be Killjam XXX.
Adult mediums like books and film have a whole range of methods they can use to start and entrance their audience - in media res, a mystery setup, an introduction between two emotionally gripping characters. The introduction of a work should be indicative of the rest of the work!
And to those who say shows can't be slow anymore, well, you haven't sat down with a good one and let it seduce you, have you?
(Recommended example - https://blooddollpod.com )
Yes, yes, Season 2 is coming
I have 7 out of the 8 scripts for Vampire: The Masquerade: Blood Doll Season 2 written & we're starting proper recording with the voice actors in April!
We expect released in October 2026 per usual.
Like in Real Life, Sex in Audio Dramas is Healthy and Filled with Queer/Trans Joy
Since nobody else is, I want to talk about why I put sex in my audio drama "Vampire: The Masquerade: Blood Doll." ( blooddollpod.com ) tl;dr I want to present people as whole, complex individuals who need/like sex & I want to present queer/trans joy through sex without it being explicitly porn. First off, I have sex in Blood Doll for a very selfish reason - all my previous released shows didn't have any. I thought I was doing a disservice to my characters by not letting them show their erotic sides of themselves. (Just not Janus from the unreleased Victory Asterisk, who was ace.) Second, I wanted to show queer / trans sex as a part of people's lives in a non-porn setting. I wanted sex to be a way to show intimacy with a character's lover, to make the listener understand the closeness between the characters and to be complicit in that closeness by enjoying their sex together. And I included sex like this because I haven't seen intimacy expressed like this in most audio drama. There's sure a lot of porn audio drama and a lot of ace or cis/straight audio drama, but I haven't found anything that treats sex between characters like getting coffee or moving furniture. Sex as just another thing people do in their lives. Yes, many listeners will find it out there and kinda in your face, but not necessarily as much as Game of Thrones or Heated Rivalry. My question to my listeners is, why are you uncomfortable about queer sex in your fucking vampire audio drama? Like most work I write, such as Supervillainz, I'm looking to challenge, while presenting writing about the ordinary world I live in. T4T is all around me, especially in Seattle. As always, I want to inspire more of this. I want more sex in my audio dramas in an adult manner, not to be risque. As I mentioned to my co-panelists at AuFiCon, Blood Doll is adult like a Paul Thomas Anderson film, not like Debbie Does Dallas. Anyhow, that's my rant. Go listen to an unabashedly queer show at: blooddollpod.com
Hi guys.
It’s time to talk about that survey.
So.
First of all, woah. I made this survey expecting to get like 20 responses, maybe 50 max but. No. I got 753. 753 people took five or ten minutes of their time to fill out this survey. It’s an absolutely mind boggling number. (And an excellent sample size! Though by no means representative but that’s how it goes with a survey like this.)
My main conclusion? Y’all hunger for the graphs.
And also just… This community is really really lovely. There aren’t many places online where you can get 753 responses to an anonymous survey and have the meanest response be “it might’ve been good to word this one question differently.”
So, thank you. Thank you for your time, your thoughts, and your awesomeness.
I shall give you graphs and data and analysis. *nod*
Just a thought

Journalist Katherine Cross calls bullshit on the much-touted "the “Kamala is for they/them” ad [that] shifted the [2024 Presidential] race towards Tr*mp by 2.7 points".
It did not. It was supposedly a figure cited in a Future Forward study that no one can seemingly get their hands on.
So why was that dubious claim used so widely in the press? Simple:
"...committed, passionately ideological transphobia is, at present, almost exclusively an obsession of political and media elites." - Katherine Cross

Let's talk about kink and maintaining community, y'all
So, you and Hot Date just decided you were going to do a raunchy, boundary-pushing, mentally and physically exhausting scene. You've discussed limits, pre-scene setup, post-scene aftercare, and how to call yellow or red during moments when one or more of you are unable to speak and/or move. Everything should be set, right? Forget anything?
Sigh.
Well, yes. There's something that I've never heard discussed when preparing for a scene.
How do you mitigate community harm if something goes very, very wrong?
Trauma spikes happen during scenes and not everyone is able to communicate great when they occur. This can lead to hate, resentment, and complete loss of trust in someone. Feelings and emotions are fucking raw when this happens, and are exacerbated if the scene doesn't end immediately and sufficient support isn't provided to everyone involved. Person X says they will never trust Person Y again and Person X's friends cut off all contact with Person Y.
And this spreads throughout the community and sure enough, there's damage and divisions. A community fractures. I'm not just talking "Person Y is no longer allowed at events with Person X." I'm talking larger breaks where lines are drawn because not everybody has all the information needed to understand what happened in the scene.
Y'all, community is fucking important right now. Creating spaces where its safe for us to express ourselves and let down our guards are critical now, especially in trans, queer, BIPOC-friendly spaces. The current world is laser-focused on splitting us apart, caring for only ourselves and our immediate families, when the only way we survive long-term is through community support.
So, let's talk about how we retain our communities even when we think we're just doing some play that isn't any of their business. First off, for intense scenes where the danger of community fragmentation exists, there needs to be a third party present. Not just witnesses.
Why?
1) Immediate care - feelings are especially raw when a scene results in trauma responses or lines are inadvertently crossed, and the traumatized party(ies) need help now.
2) An independent source who can provide information about the scene to others.
(I understand this is in an ideal situation, but if we're doing RACK, community fracturing is a potential result, and should be mitigated if possible.)
As well, each person in the scene should have someone they trust, but do not play with, who they can go to for care following a disrupted scene. This person should be notified before the scene and be on standby.
It's good to tell others about the scene you're about to do, but it's not enough.
People also need to be aware of what kinds of communication are helpful following a scene - for some people, going nonverbal or not wanting to be touched might be expected.
As well, people need to learn to listen to everyone involved in the scene, determine what grievances exist, and understand that they cannot be immediately mitigated. Standard restorative justice stuff.
But immediate aftercare and third party accounts are not enough. The real work needs to start before the scene. We need to decide whether we give a shit about our kink communities enough to trust that they will address our needs after something terrible, and that withdrawing from the community should not necessarily mandate that others come with you. Because we fracture too fucking easily, and people are allowed to love you even if they're not actively dating you. Kink spaces are finite resources that take a lot of volunteer work to maintain. Kink communities are found families for many of us. I don't have a good solution to this problem. Which is why I'm bringing this up to the community in this post.
It's no contradiction to remain friends with people in a kink community but want to withdraw from it.
But before we start our scenes, talking about how to mitigate community fracturing should be a thing.
Suggestions?
