I am convinced that a lot of weird seeming censoring of words online is best explained by the assumption that I am not alone in that my internal voice reads censored words in a quieter register than uncensored ones, and people are not actually censoring words for algorithms/safety/whatever reasons but as the equivalent of when you're talking about something sensitive or scandalous irl and so you lower your voice
