PART TWO
BUCKY BARNES
The pink light of dawn just began to show on the horizon as I placed our packs in the back of my rental car. That feeling tickled the back of my neck. Someone was watching. I locked up the car and headed back into the small hotel.
Inside, I sprinted down the hall to the opposite end of the building. Existing, I moved to the strip of trees and overgrown brush separating the hotel from the highway. It didn't take long to get close enough to spot him.
Walker stood just at the edge of the tree line. His black uniform blended into the shadows, but I could easily make out his outline as cars passed.
Fucker was following Mattie.
Maybe this would be easier than I thought. I could end it here and now. He may have the serum now, but I didn't really care how much I hurt him now. Moving out of the trees, I stood at the edge of the parking lot.
Come one, asshole. Notice me.
Walker shifted, froze, then turned towards me. I let myself slip a little further into that dark place. My hands clenched. I wanted to break his fucking neck.
I strode forward, the power coiling in my muscles. He took one step towards me, paused, and fled into the trees. I dashed forward. The roar of a motorcycle filled the air.
Run, asshole. Go ahead.
My teeth ground together as I headed back to the hotel. I pulled out my phone, hitting the only number in my recent list.
"Dude, what time is it?" Sam's sleep-rough voice grumbled.
"Walker was staking out the hotel."
"Serious?" His voice became instantly alert.
"He ran before I got to him." I wasn't going to admit I should have snuck up on him before showing myself. I just wanted him to feel the fear of being caught.
"So what's the plan?"
"I'm taking her back to the city."
"You're not concerned about going through the airports? I mean, you might as well run a live camera feed into de Fontaine's office."
"We'll drive. Maybe stop somewhere along the way." I paused near my car again, calculating the alternatives for the trip.
"Why the city? I mean, you could hold up around here until you have more intel."
"I have contacts in the city." There were people I knew who would insist on speaking in person.
"Whatever, man." I could hear Sam rolling his eyes. "Holler if you get in trouble."
"Yeah." I hung up and pocketed the phone.
Mattie met me at the hotel room door with a cup of hot coffee. "Want one?"
"No." I brushed past her and looked out the window. I caught myself being rude. "Thanks."
"What is it?" She set the drink down, stepping into the doorway of the bathroom so she could easily see the door and the window.
"He was watching from the trees." I held a hand out to her. "He's gone now."
Mattie slipped under my arm and wrapped her arms around my waist. "Did you..." Her words trailed off.
"No. He ran before I got close." I pressed a kiss to her still-damp hair. "Let's get going."

Sinatra played as Bucky sucked down the last of his Coke. My head leaned back on the headrest. My eyes were closed. We'd been on the road for over ten hours. Bucky refused to let me take a turn driving.
"Hey," Bucky's hand settled high on my thigh.
My head lolled over to look at him. "Hey, back."
"I've been thinking. Stopping Walker will fix the immediate problem, but we need to either stop de Fontaine or at least get her attention off you."
"Okay," I agreed. "How do we do that?"
"She's never going to admit her involvement, and we would be really hard pressed to dig up enough on all the O.X.E. activity." Bucky tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. "You know how they got Capone, right?"
I took his soda and sipped. "The gangster? It was taxes, right?"
"Yeah." The corner of Bucky's lip curved up. "He ran a huge organization, had tons of people killed, and he landed in jail over cheating on his taxes."
"You want to bust de Fontaine for tax evasion?" I laughed. "Wouldn't a bullet be easier?"
He shrugged. "I'm turning over a new leaf."
I ran my fingers through the hair at the back of his neck. He looked hot as hell, but I did miss the long hair.
"Mattie." He chuckled. "Focus."
"So, are you going to dig through her W-2s?" Teasing him was fun.
He frowned. "I think the easiest way to get to her will be the money, but I'm going to need help."
"How so?"
"Pretty sure only the people who can get access to her files are in the Oval Office or Congress." Bucky huffed.
"I thought all the Avengers knew Thaddeus Ross," I joked.
His face went hard. "One, I have never been an Avenger. Two, our new President once ordered me locked in a box and accused me of killing the king of Wakanda. He's not a fan."
"There has to be someone."
"I kinda know the Chairman of the Oversight Committee. Unfortunately, he's a straight shooter. He's not going to give up anything."
I rested back in the seat, thinking about alternatives. The silence stretched out, both lost in our own thoughts.
"Do you need a break?" I asked. "I can drive."
"Naw, Doll. I'm good. You rest."
BUCKY BARNES
As the hour got later, fewer cars were on the road. I kept us on parallel state roads rather than traveling the freeway. Not that I was really concerned about traffic cameras, but it was a habit.
Mattie dozed in the passenger seat.
A dark blur came from the right.
I hit the gas.
The impact on the rear corner panel spun the car around.
Mattie screamed.
"Get down," I growled, stepping out of the car as soon as it stopped.
No hesitation. I drew my gun and fired at Walker's outline in the cab of the truck.
Three shots blew out the windows and sank into the driver's seat. Walker popped up behind the truck bed, his cosplay shield came at me. I slapped it aside.
Fucker.
I charged him.
We exchanged a flurry of blows. Nothing landed solidly. I blocked his swing with my left arm and nailed him in the breadbasket with my right. He stumbled back.
"Drop it, Walker," I warned. "Leave her alone, and I won't break the rest of your bones."
He sucked in a breath. "She's a part of a cartel, a criminal."
"She's a nurse." I moved closer. "Leave her alone."
"No loose ends." He sneered back at me. "That's the mission."
I barked a harsh laugh. "So you're the assassin now? Way to be a patriot."
He roared, throwing himself at me. We exchanged hard, fast blows. I drew him away from the vehicles. My kick landed and tossed him twenty feet back.
His anger boiled over, and he charged.
I caught his swing, using his own momentum to flip him over and slam him into the road. His head hit with a loud crack.
He struggled to rise but couldn't.
I leaned over, grabbing his uniform by the collar. His eyes failed to focus on me. Perfect.
"Listen, asshole." I spoke very clearly. "That woman is no threat to you. Leave her alone, or next time I won't hold back."
I walked away, taking my time and listening for his movements. I heard him get up and pick up his shield. His steps were sluggish. I kept walking.
By the time I made it to the car, he was climbing into the truck. He gave me one last, disgusted look before I slipped into the car.
Mattie had curled herself into the floorboard of the passenger seat. She arched a brow at me. I didn't acknowledge her, figuring Walker was still watching us.
I spun the car around, passing the truck, and shooting out two tires. I hit the gas and left Walker seething in an inoperable vehicle.
"You can get up, Doll. Are you okay?"
"I'm okay." She settled back in the seat and belted in. Her body stayed angled towards me.
I took the first eastern road, changing up our direction. Before Walker hit us, I was going to stop for the night soon. Now, driving straight through seemed a better choice.
I could feel Mattie's stare. "What?"
"That," She breathed. "Was sexy as hell."
My head snapped around. "What?"
She leaned closer, her hand sliding over my thigh to rub along my cock. "You, with that strut, that look, kicking his ass. Yum. Like I want climb over there and suck you off kind of yum."
Not much shocked me, but I had no idea what to do. My dick, however, hardened at the idea. “Doll.”
“You can keep driving,” she purred. “Just slide that zipper down.”
“Mattie.”
Her stroke became more insistent. “I’m serious. Watching you got me all wet.”
Fuck. That felt good. I gripped the steering wheel tighter. “You were supposed to be hiding.”
“Couldn’t help it.” She bent closer, tugging at my belt. “You’re hot all the time. But when you’re pissed, it just turns the heat up to a thousand.”
I felt my fly pop open. Shit. I meant to push her back, but when my hand touched her hair, I pulled her closer. Her warm fingers wrapped around my length. I found myself shifting my hips so she could tug my jeans a little lower.
Mattie’s hot, wet mouth closed over the head of my cock. I nearly slammed on the brakes. She drooled, coating me. Her head bobbed as she sucked me deeper. It felt so fucking good, but it wasn’t enough.
No other lights were on the dark mountain road. I pulled off on the shoulder, switching off the lights. I threw open the door as my hand wound in her hair. “Come here.”
Mattie crawled forward, and I dragged her all the way out of the car.
MATTIE WILLIAMS
I just put my feet down on the road when Bucky jerked my pants down to mid-thigh. He pushed me up against the trunk. Pulling my head back, he tugged at my ear with his teeth.
“You want it?” He rubbed his cock against my ass.
“Yes,” I breathed.
“Doll, you are a naughty girl.” His left hand came around to clutch at my breast. “A very naughty girl.” Bucky let go of my hair. His mouth ran along my neck. “You sure you want it?”
“Yes.”
Crack. His hand slapped down on my ass. Pain zinged into pleasure, making me moan. His fingers slid between my legs. “Fuck. You are soaking.”
“Told you.” I smirked.
I suddenly came off my feet as he swung me around. My back landed on the trunk, and he draped my legs over his left shoulder. His cool metal hand cupped my ass cheek. The head of his cock nudged against me once.
He stared into my eyes and plunged deep. I cried out. “Yes!”
He fucked me hard. Feral. Sweat broke out on my skin. He was hot and heavy. I couldn’t get leverage to move, but my muscles clenched around him. My thighs began to shake.
Out in the open. My adrenaline high. Bucky fucking me rough. I snapped fast, coming over his cock with a moan.
“Fuck,” he growled. His hips slammed into mine until his grip tightened to almost painful. With a growl, he came.
Bucky’s face turned into my denim-covered legs. He pumped twice, slowly, before pulling out. I whined at the loss of him. He pulled his t-shirt over his head and wiped me clean before setting me on my feet.
I swayed a bit, giggling.
“You okay?” His hand cupped my face. He kissed me gently.
“Fantastic.” I kissed him back.
“Yes, you are.” He gave me one more hard kiss before pointing back to the car. “Now let’s go.”
I went around the car and climbed in. Bucky tossed the dirty shirt in the back seat and pulled out his sweatshirt. Just as he pulled it over his head, we heard the sound of a grinding engine.
“Shit.” Bucky hopped in the driver’s seat and slammed the car into gear. He didn’t turn on the lights.
I buckled up. All euphoria evaporated as Bucky increased speed through the darkness. It was terrifying.
“Is it him?”
“Probably,” Bucky growled out. “He engine sounds like shit. There’s no way that truck will keep up. Don’t worry, Doll. I have enough light to see.”
“If you say so.” I sunk lower in the seat and shut my eyes.
Part Three coming soon!
