***NEW BOOK ALERT***
At the printers as I type, ‘The Elephant Hotel’ is a new children’s book by Nicolas Burrows (yes, me). It started from a simple but logically flawed premise: what if elephants moved into a run-down post-colonial Indian hotel and ran it for other elephants? You know, but with er, human-sized tables and stuff but sometimes they look like they could be made for an elephant? How would they even fit in the rooms?!
Well actually it started from a little collage I did a while ago...
...then I thought about it for a while until it turned into this kind of thing...
The book was made possible thanks to a partnership between WeTransfer and ELCAF (the East London Comic Arts Festival) and it’ll be launching at this year’s ELCAF on 16th June.
There will also be a workshop at FOYLES in Charing Cross on 3rd June where you can come and make your own collaged elephant guests at The Grand Tusk Hotel...

Our six month residency at the House Of Illustration has come to an end. But it signals the opening of our exhibition ‘Three Men in A Boat’. The show is now on until June 11th, 2017. WORKSHOP AT THE HOUSE OF ILLUSTRATION // 30/10/16
For the Big Draw this year come and join us to try out our new drawing machine.
A drop-in event for all ages, there will be a selection of drawing tools, tests, samples and sketches and you'll be able to use our machine to make a drawing together.

NV / HOI RESIDENCY

Some of these initial flippant studies may become compositional sketches for further work, at the very least it was the first time we have made images together for a while so was as much about that as anything, making each other laugh and trying to find some common visual language.
We will be part of The Graphic Art Print Fair curated by ‘They Made This’ at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London this weekend. William will be live painting, Jay will be manning our stall of objects and books and there will be lots of our prints on the walls alongside some other good good people doing fun fun things.
We’ll be at Glasgow Design Festival Scotland, 17 — 23 October 2016, giving a two day workshop. Attacking the often intimidating white page with utter non-sense, looking at alternative methods of image making and post-rationalisation. (Essentially making things willy-nilly then attempting to make sense of them afterwards through collecting and juxtaposing them with other images). A two day publication making workshop, in which participants will be encouraged to create a large number of inconsequential works following the simple & silly stimulus and prompts provided. Think about making a picture about ‘how warm your favourite tree is’ — being good at drawing is not essential (nor encouraged). Once these tasks are complete students will edit work produced and design their own spread to be included in a group publication, that we will all construct together.
