a trick I’ve been using recently to help with adultingTM is turning those feelings of anxiety into feelings of excitedness. It’s a small change that’s had a massive impact. I have generalised anxiety disorder and I’m currently doing a whole lot on my own, having interviews for uni admission, working and doing a lot where I have to be self-sufficient. The changing of anxiousness and dread into being excited happens first with how you speak about the events. eg. turning ‘This is awful but I’ll do it.’ into ‘I’m so pumped to be able to try this!’. That change in verbalise those feelings translate into how you actually feel. I didn’t think it would work but it has! It’s allowed me to no longer be stressed about things beyond the moment in which I think about them. That lingering sense of dread as I sit and try and relax isn’t there. Don’t get me wrong, I still have anxiety and feel anxious about things but this small change in particular has let me let go of a lot.

Mi sto dedicando ad alcune letture femministe e niente, è tutto così vero e inquietante che ora mi pongo quesiti su qualsiasi cosa e tutto ciò probabilmente mi rovinerà l’esistenza, ma è assurdo che ci siano donne che grazie a Dio hanno riflettuto tantissimo su qualsiasi aspetto della nostra vita quotidiana (e dico qualsiasi) per permettere a noi di farci altrettante domande.

Penso che adesso non guarderò allo stesso modo quelle che si sentono femministe e in realtà non hanno fatto nessun tipo di pensiero approfondito sui problemi che tutto ciò comporta (e le invidierò un po’ perché a forza di fare caso a cose che prima ignoravo aiuto mi sento impazzire)
