Pamir Mountains, Tajikistan Somewhere about 15,000 ft above sea level, our car broke down (more than once) in the remote Pamir Mountains. We've got the hood popped and the tow rope ready to go, and all we can do is wait for someone to pass as our Tajikistan visas grow dangerously close to expiring

It seemed like every animal in Romania was coming up to our car. On the outskirts of Oaxaca, Viola has been hand-weaving rugs in the Zapotec tradition, squishing cactus bugs and other fun things to use as natural dye, for decades. She lives and works at Vida Nueva, a women’s weaving collective. When we stopped in, Viola was more than excited to give us a demo. Plus, we bought a sweet rug!
