Our flight this morning was cancelled, but the replacement has arrived. Don’t worry, Austin, no mountain high, no valley low, no airplane mechanics faulty, will keep us from getting to you.

For this week’s Sandwich Monday, we try a Baco — not the bacon bit, but the bao-taco hybrid from Saucy Porka in Chicago. Happy National Sandwich Day, everyone!
Until next time, Pittsburgh. Stay beautiful and filled with bridges.
“‘I’ve Enjoyed Every Minute Of It’: Carl Kasell On His 60 Years In Radio”
"I never consider what I do as work. It has been fun, it’s been rewarding, and very fulfilling. … I love my work. It’s been good to me," Kasell says.

Can we all agree that Carl Kasell’s grumpy face is the best part of OK Go’s Tiny Desk Concert?
Broadcasting legend Carl Kasell just announced that he’s retiring from Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me this spring and we’re still sure this GIF set is one for the books. We’re all gonna miss you, Carl!
We try the “Grinch Sandwich” and vow to quit Christmas cold turkey. Also, does anyone have some cold turkey? We need to get this taste out of our mouths.
We imagined a world where NPR was no longer funded by our listeners, and the results were twice as frightening as that episode of The Twilight Zone where Burgess Meredith sits on his eyeglasses. TWICE AS FRIGHTENING!
Our guest this week is the amazing Jeff Garlin, who, oddly, pre-scripted his entire appearance.
I personally think The Usual Suspects would have been infinitely better if every character had been played by a pie. But, really, I think that about every movie.
We also got a brief, terrifying shout out on The Colbert Report. Fortunately for us, we’re not worth buying out. That said, how much could a lifetime supply of gummi bears cost, really?
"Here, Mike closes his eyes and tries desperately to think of a different sandwich."

Here at Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me, our staff works tirelessly to ensure you the same high-quality programming week in and week out.
For this week’s Sandwich Monday, we try the newest addition to the Burger King menu: a burger topped with french fries. It’s the latest stage in the march toward Total Menu Integration.
Sandwich Monday is back, and so is the iron will (and iron stomachs) of Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me. This week, Ian Chillag tries the Chili Cheeseburger A-Plenty from Beacon Drive-In Restaurant in Spartanburg, S.C.
The “a-plenty" part means the burger is buried under a pile of french fries and onion rings. Because yes.

For this week’s Sandwich Monday, the intrepid stomachs at Wait Wait Don’t TEll Me try a classic Chicago food called “Gravy Bread." It’s exactly what it sounds like.
Highlights from the gastronomic review include:
“I think this is the closest I’ll ever get to knowing what it feels like to be a baby bird."
and
“I appreciate a food that appeals to multiple generations: pre-tooth babies, and post-tooth seniors."
Makes sense.

Sandwich Monday: The (knockoff) cronut
The Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! team tries the cronut…er doughssant. Does it succeed? Does it matter? All your questions answered here.
(Photo: NPR)
It’s Sandwich Monday and the iron stomachs of the Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! team try the St. Paul sandwich…which is basically just egg foo young and white bread.
Says Ian Chillag, “This really comes from the ‘These Are The Only Things I Had In My Fridge’ school of cooking."
