WHAT HAVE I ACHIEVED THIS WEEK?
Tuesday and Wednesday, I attended leadership training with the rest of the graduate cohort. I was told my 'edge' is that I need to work to accept positive feedback, as I tend to dismiss it if I do not agree. When I returned to work on Thursday I supported a Service Assurance Manager I have been working with at the Service Assurance Review Board. I then made sure to document all evidence for the project. On Friday, I attended a training session on Problem Management. This is in preparation for when I will help present such training sessions on a trip to HSC in July. I took notes, and asked questions following the session.
WHAT HAS BEEN A SUCCESS?
Training - I tried to distance myself from any initial skepticism and to embrace the opportunity to gain more self awareness and to form a greater connection with the graduate network. I feel that I mostly succeeded in this, allowed myself to be emotionally open and worked to provide useful feedback to others.
Service Assurance Review Board - I tried to bring forward learning from the previous days, and spoke up more in the meeting when I had the relevant information, something that I find difficult.
Service Assurance - By making a conscious effort to document all project related evidence in one tracker document I am able to take steps to become more organised, something I find difficult.
Problem Management Session - After the session, I made sure to ask questions relating to the sessions I will be assisting with in July. As these will be in a different context and to a far larger audience, I wanted to get some ideas on how we can tailor this training so that it is still effective.
WHAT CAN I LEARN FROM
Feedback - following the leadership training, I know that I should request feedback on tasks that I complete, both positive and negative. I still feel very uncomfortable doing this, and so need to work on how to make this seem more natural.
OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP THIS WEEK
- I will be finishing up my work with Service Assurance, so should make sure that everything that I have worked on is fully documented and make sure to request feedback on how they feel that I have performed within the team. I have another training session, so will go into that with an open mind. There is also the CIO Town Hall, where I can stretch myself by making sure to network and not to only talk with people I am already comfortable with.
