Eugene Palmer is a London-based artist who explores themes of identity and portraiture in his paintings. The Norwich Gallery at Norfolk Institute of Art & Design hosted a touring exhibition of Palmer’s work in 1993, curated by Lynda Morris and Eddie Chambers.

George Skipper (1856-1948) studied art and architecture at Norwich School of Art and became an established architect. He designed several iconic Norwich buildings including the Royal Arcade, Norwich Union and Jarrolds. Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman (1906-1984) described Skipper as the 'Gaudi of Norwich'.

Patrick Sutherland is a documentary photographer who was a visiting tutor at Norwich School of Art in the 1980’s. His work has been published in the Sunday Times and Independent magazines and he won a World Press Photo Award in 1990.

He is now Professor of Photojournalism at University of the Arts London. Sutherland’s work combines art photography with visual anthropology. He is currently overseeing The Elephant Vanishes, a long-term project recording the regeneration of London’s Elephant and Castle district. Work from the project has been exhibited in numerous venues including the Photographers Gallery and Tate Britain.

Alexander ‘Sandy’ Moffat OBE is Royal Scottish Academician and painter whose works are held by many galleries and public spaces including The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the Arts Council Collection and The Yale Centre of British Art. An important figure in figurative painting, Moffat was head of Painting and Printmaking 1992-2005 at the Glasgow School of Art. Seven Poets was shown at Third Eye Centre, Glasgow toured to other venues, including Norwich School of Art gallery in 1981. 

The Third Eye Centre in Glasgow was founded by Scottish writer and playwright Tom McGrath and hosted visiting artists and performers such as Allen Ginsberg, Whoopi Goldberg, John Byrne, Edwin Morgan and Kathy Acker. In the 1980s it presented some of the key exhibitions by the new Glasgow painters such as Stephen Campbell, Ken Currie and Peter Howson and was the home of the National Review of Live Art. With the demise of The Third Eye Centre at the turn of the 1990s, the Centre for Contemporary Arts established in its place, opening in 1992. http://www.cca-glasgow.com/about-cca/history

The Art of the Invisible was first held at the Bede Gallery in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear in 1977. The exhibition travelled around the UK including a showing at the Norwich School of Art Gallery, and was staged at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in 1979. The exhibition featured works by William Blake, Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian. In the catalogue Art Historian Alf Corlett outlines the origins, history and characters of Theosophy and shows the influence on the evolution of abstract art.

This Photographer's Gallery, London Touring Exhibition originated in London in 1989. It toured to the Norwich Gallery 18 September - 27 October 1990 . An all-female group show, the exhibition featured work by Zarina Bhimji, Sutapa Biswas, Mona Hatoum, Ingrid Pollard and Maxine Walker.

In 1977 Norwich School of Art Gallery exhibited this glorious display of the advertising art of J&J Colman Ltd. Colman’s mustard is still manufactured in Norwich and is recognised all over the world. In 1985 the seminal exhibition 'Rocks and Flesh - an argument for British Drawing' opened at the Norwich Gallery on 30 September. With works selected by Peter Fuller, the exhibition was organised by the Norwich School of Art Gallery for the Norfolk and Norwich Triennial Festival.

An exhibition of performances centred on the works of a Benedictine Monk in the 1960s and ‘70s as part of the British Concrete Poetry Movement went on display in The Gallery at Norwich University College of the Arts on 24 September 2010.

Coinciding with the Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery’s ‘The Art of Faith’ exhibition and a host of faith-based cultural events at The Norwich Anglican Cathedral, Cinema City and the UEA, ‘frog pond plop: the yoga of concrete’ explores the work of Dom Sylvester Houédard of Prinknash Abbey, who was one of the leading practitioners and theorists of the movement. Concrete Poetry considers the physical appearance of the words as well as their meaning. ‘frog pond plop’ explores Houédard’s collaborations with other artists exploring Eastern Philosophy, particularly Tibetan Buddhist Tradition.

The exhibition was curated by student Nicola Simpson as part of her doctoral research. Nicola says: “Houédard found within Eastern philosophy a paradigm for questioning the process of coming into form, being and no-thing-ness, form and emptiness, the non and the non-non.”

2015 Turner Prize nominee Janice Kerbel exhibited 'Home Climate Gardens' at the Norwich Gallery in 2003, which was revived for the exhibition ‘Norwich Gallery Projects with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research 2001 – 2005’. The show opened at Norwich Gallery 4 – 30 September 2006. Home Climate Gardens is described in the exhibition dispatch as ‘an allegorical mediation on the future conditions of a world marked by increasingly uncertain environmental conditions that we are going to have to learn to live with’.

In Summer 2009 Keith Chapman was awarded an honorary doctorate by Norwich University of the Arts. The successful animator studied at Yarmouth College of Art and Design, which later merged with Norwich University College of the Arts, and subsequently created Bob the Builder, one of the many popular characters produced by Chapman Entertainment.

In July 2006 The Money Centre worked with BA Photography students to produce a visual representation of the company’s culture - with £350 of photography vouchers being awarded to a selected winner. The scheme aimed to motivate Money Centre staff to strive for individual ambition and long term business goals and for the students the project counted towards their final degree mark.

NUA graduates founded design agency The Click and in 2005 won a contract to design the branding for Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant. In July 2000 iconic TV artist Tony Hart presented graduating students with their degree awards - and drew some of his famous easel cartoons live on stage. The drawings were then auctioned off to raise money for the student hardship fund - a particular favourite was a drawing of Morph which was bought by a graduand with a winning bid of £115
