Just like pineapple on pizza isn’t. If you’re wondering, yes I enjoy pineapple on my pizza.” She laughed a little. “Chocolate sales are seriously the best.” 

“I probably shouldn’t. I’m trying to be healthy since most of what I put in my body is either alcohol or taco bell,” They cringed. “Pineapple on your pizza? That sounds... awful. Then again, I’m allergic to pineapple so anything with pineapple sounds awful because I’d die.”

Nuka furrowed their brows and pulled their fries slightly away from the dark haired fry stealer, “Yes. Those fries. The fries you intentionally took from me even though they’re not yours.”

You know, the Valentine’s Day Massacre,” She pointed to herself and nodded in agreement to Nuka’s statement. “ That’s exactly why I don’t participate in that pathetic excuse of a ‘holiday’. I buy my shit weeks in advance,” The brunette shook her head as she waved over one of the guys to grab her a cherry coke. 

“Ah, that is a very...interesting origin for your name. Did they tell you that when you were little?” Nuka took a bite of their pizza, chewing in thought. “I would rather just have a nice date with someone like once a month instead of going all out one day a year. I mean, I don’t really date or anything.. but if I did.” They laughed.

Nuka started off walking toward the bar they worked at, “No problem. I’m pretty good at listening. Not so good at talking about my feelings though.” They laughed and stuck their hands in their pockets. “I’ve been alright. Just kinda hanging out and relaxing on my day off.”

“Hm?” She turned to Nuka, her cheeks full of chocolate, Ariel took a moment to eat the treat before looking towards the student. “I mean…I love love, I just find it kind of silly most people think they have to wait a whole year to have nice gestures towards their friends or partners.” The redhead shrugged, offering them the bar of chocolate she had in her hand. “As of now, I just enjoy the sugar rush.”

“No thanks. You finish it,” Nuka smiled slightly at the redhead and waved her off, “That’s valid. The sweets are definitely a perk to this... “holiday”. I just find the extra large stuffed animals and balloons and all that shit so extra. Like, what the fuck am I supposed to do with a human sized stuffed bear? I don’t have room for that in my apartment, you know?”

Mitch spent most of his Valentine’s day being…well, unaffected, really. He never had much to look forward to, but it wasn’t like a little extra romance in the air was enough to annoy him…At least, not enough for it to show. “No. It’s a silly holiday, like…It shouldn’t be one day that people should be nice to whoever they have an interest in.”

Nuka nodded in agreement, “I’m glad I found someone who agrees. It’s not that I hate the idea of love and showing off your love for someone, but it’s just so annoying and over the top for one day.... Like if I had a significant other I would want to feel appreciated every day and not just one day.”

Adella turned to them, handing them one of her little donut presents. “I guess… I mean to me it just gives me and excuse to be extra happy and send little gifts to all of my loved ones? I understand it’s based on capitalism but I think it can actually be a nice holiday…” She replied.

Nuka was taken aback, but took the small package anyway, “At least you understand that it is something that is based on capitalism and not based on love and actual romantic feelings.” They opened the present to see that it was a donut snack. Even though they knew better than taking food from a stranger, they couldn’t resist taking a bite. Sweets were their weakness.

“I think Valentine’s Day is sweet,” she giggled. While she was a fan of showing her love for people through small acts throughout the year, although she was a romantic at heart. 

“I mean, I guess it can be to some people. I just feel as though there is way too much pressure on one day when it should be spread evenly throughout the year,” Nuka shrugged.

That’s what most single people do.” Talia didn’t think she was single this year, so the giant teddy bear, flowers, and balloon were going to Tam…once she got them. Just because she had to do it in-secret didn’t mean she couldn’t do anything, right? “Just go on some dating app if you’re really that bitter. There is always someone just as bitter waiting to hook up.”

Nuka scowled at the blonde, “My relationship status has nothing to do with why I dislike Valentine’s Day. I find the whole affair frivolous. Why do you have to have one special day dedicated to your significant other, when you should treat them well on every day?”

Sure, Valentina was pretty much against the whole Valentine’s Day–although she did use the holiday as an excuse to get Andrina presents. The only thing that got on her last nerve was watching her peers walk around with heart eyes and heart this, chocolate that. It was tedious. Letting out a sigh, she turned to the person next to her. “I wish I knew. Hell, my parents spited me to name me after their ‘favorite holiday’. Hallmark’s just rolling naked in their dough.” 

“Your parents favorite holiday is... Valentines Day? Why? Of all the holidays it could be, why would you choose Valentines Day. It’s just a corporate holiday made to sell shit to people they don’t need in order to “prove” their love,” Nuka said, their spite for Valentines Day clear in their voice. They stepped up in line to order a slice of pizza and a drink.

“Well… certain things should definatly be kept behind closed doors. Sometimes those it’s just.. you love someone so much and you want everyone to know about it!” Caroline giggled shaking her head. “I’m happy for everyone - love makes you giggly and stuff I guess. Besides, all the pretty flower arrangements everywhere? How could anyone not be happy to see them.” She shrugged. Grinning she nodded. “Thank you! I made them myself with a little extra love for today.” 

“You’re a very good baker, this is addicting,” Nuka took another bite and hummed with pleasure. “I mean I guess. I’m not really into the whole love thing or whatever. It just doesn’t really make sense. The flowers and fuckloads of candy are nice though. Especially when they’re discounted the day after.”

Caroline was very pleased with the reactions she’d had all morning. The little one could understand how some girls would be upset watching everyone with their flowers, and secret admirers. With each long face she gave a cupcake and made sure to let them know just how valued and beautiful they were. Hearing a voice she reached for a cupcake and a small bag of candies. “Well first you have to take a cupcake.” She giggled. “It’s just a day to be extra cute and cheesy. A holiday to celebrate love and being in it.” She shrugged. “I think it’s cute. Not to mention business at the shop was insane with all the flowers. I also might have sent myself some.” She shrugged with a giggle. “Because why not! It can also be a day of celebrating self love.” 

Nuka took a cupcake, taken aback by the treat. They laughed softly at the younger girl and her clear excitement for the holiday, “Love? Self love? I mean, I guess. I don’t know I just think it’s all rather frivolous. Love is something that should just be shared between the people involved in private, not something so flashy and showy.” They took a bite of the cupcake and closed their eyes as the delicious treat touched their tongue. “Mm, this is really fucking good.”

Nuka rolled their eyes at a passing student who was carrying a large white teddy bear, a bouquet of flowers, and a large balloon which read “Happy Valentines Day!”. They didn’t understand all the hype of such a clearly corporate holiday. At least Christmas you could pretend all the presents and food were about the “season of giving” and “spending time with your loved ones”. They looked turned to the person next to them, “Do you understand what all the hype is about Valentines Day? It just seems... frivolous and pointless.”

Clara’s eyes widened, “Email you say? Hm…I don’t recall sending any of those out. I’ll talk with admissions about that,” She reassured Nuka with a nod. “If you can’t declare, I do want to reassure you that you can get a bachelors in general studies and that you do have time to declare, contrary to what was sent out. Is there a possibility that you have the email on hand? I could look that over real quick. Some policies were changed over the summer and they should have rolled over by now.” 

“Uh, yeah. It’s on my phone let me just, uh, get it...,” Nuka dug around their bag for a moment, searching for their phone. They pulled it out and scrolled through their email, “Ah, here it is.” They handed the phone to the headmistress.

Without warning, Lola sat next to the other person, a smirk on her face as she took a fry from their plate, not even waiting to ask permission first. “Hello there.”
