what blows my mind most is that winx club would be so easy to reboot. the original 3 seasons were already good, they just needed refinement and a fresh coat of paint- there was no need to reinvent the wheel. it didn't even need a new script! you could've fixed literally everything that was actually wrong with OG winx with fairly minor script edits. don't wanna pay character designers? that's fine! the og designs have aged like fine wine! if you applied the disney remake formula of 'beef up the graphics and throw in an extra 40 minutes of material' YOU'D BE GOLDEN. even the people who wanted a more complete revamp (like myself) would still be satisfied

and yet, for some reason, every new winx venture feels the need to reinvent the wheel. make the girls reality tv secret agents, reset the timeline, make it a CW show, give bloom a secret twin brother who also wields the dragon flame

One thing I love about sotr is how much Haymitch and Maysilee matched each others capitol hating freak. Them deciding to paint their own posters, deciding to be loose canons and as wild as their horses, deciding to be rebellious victors, and not allowing themselves to be treated like animals

Maysilee said "jump", and Haymitch said "how high?"

It's the smallest thing maybe but it's funny to me Sunrise on the Reaping has given me another reason to dislike Gale.

Thinking of Madge on reaping day, wearing her nice dress and Gale giving her shit for it. Like she has a choice. Like she has say. Like it's her fault who she was born to. It's such an interesting example of class vs culture wars. This idea that the people up the road who have a nice house are the enemy and not the faceless people thousands of miles away who profit on their poverty.

Thinking of Maysilee who was very conscious of the way she dressed. Who liked looking nice and dressing up. Who is Madge's aunt that she never met. Who Madge heard stories of growing up about her moms twin sister who always loved fashion and knew the importance of masking and the power of how you present to people. Don't let them treat us like animals.

And when Madge lifts her head and says "I want to look my best if I go to the Capitol" and Gale has the audacity to scoff at her.

It also speaks to how quickly history is lost. He probably doesn't even know her aunt died in the games. Doesn't care. You never ever ever know what hurt people are carrying. What their history is. What their familial struggle has been. Don't punch down. Don't punch sideways. Don't even punch up. Break the chain and destroy the person holding the reins.

The (un-fucking-hinged) conversation that Snow had with Haymitch REALLY puts Peeta’s hijacking (SPECIFICALLY against Katniss) into perspective. Snow could have hijacked him to hate the rebellion, or district 12 or even himself. But no, that old loser just HAD to finally prove to one of those district 12 boys that their girl didn’t really love them, JUST like his didn’t really love him. Was it a smart move to potentially have Peeta attack Katniss on sight? Yes. But more importantly, it allowed Snow to control Peeta in a way that let him live out his own fantasies about being unloved and having power over his girl.

haymitch sending katniss the bread from 11 in the aftermath of rue’s death hits so much harder with the knowledge that mags sent him the coffee and strawberry ice cream after maysilee died

he was inviting her to cry to him the same way that mags had for him, the same way katniss does in mockingjay

he turned out to be so much more emotionally cognizant with katniss than we gave him credit for

that line hits so hard when you realize how quickly he was calling katniss sweetheart. through katniss’ eyes, it seemed insincere at first, almost like haymitch was mocking her. but now we truly know haymitch wouldn’t just throw that around. he truly cared for her from the start.
