The High Line is an elevated railway transformed into a public park on Manhattan’s West Side. The park features lush horticulture, artworks, seasonal food vendors, community programing, and unique views of the Hudson River and New York City skyline. The High Line runs between Gansevoort Street to West 34th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues

The winter and early spring flowering evergreen Iris lazica (Lazistan iris) is a rhizomatous perennial. The flowers are found between the arching, glossy green leaves. Plants tolerate a shady location so are ideal at the base of shrubs at the edge of a winter garden border. This shade tolerant species is a relative of the sun-loving winter flowering Iris unguicularis (Algerian iris).

The cheerful flowers of Jasminum nudiflorum (winter jasmine) have been appearing for over a month but are now covering the plant. This vigorous, deciduous shrub or scrambler has long arching branches. It needs support on a wall but also looks great flowing down a slope.
