Documentary Synopsis
My documentary highlights the obsession people have with snap chat and leads to questioning if people really understand if snapchat is as private as the app claims to be. I incorporated my own snapchats to add a personal touch and added music and clips that I found most related to this snap chat frenzy. I interviewed different people asking them questions such as; Why do they snapchat? Why do they think young people are so obsessed with this app? What makes something snapchat worthy? If they knew what happened to their snaps after they were used? My inspiration on this film was based on my own persona experiences with friends and them randomly snap chatting moments. The moment I knew I wanted to base my documentary on snapchat was when my boyfriend and I were driving in the car (he was the driver) and he decided to to pull his phone out and make a snap of me singing. I feel like many people can relate to my own personal experiences because I’m positive they have snap chatted or have been featured on someone else’s snap. My film functions as a documentary because I incorporated information about the actual snapchat app and how its used, I interviewed different people and asked them questions and my film embodies documentary techniques such as video editing, the incorporation of soundtrack and music. I think exploring snapchat is important because this app primarily targets a younger audience and it is important for people to understand that the content they post on the internet can possibly be seen again and affect things such as their reputation and even getting a job.
