Can you get me a copy of the requisition forms from Engineering? I seem to have misplaced them.
Of course, Captian. I’m sure I wouldn’t even have a job if it wasn’t for your tendency to misplace things.
"Will do, sir."
Janice did her rounds. She stopped first in her room to catch up on mission logs from three shifts ago before completing the entry of several uncharted developing astronomical bodies into the computers. After a brief visit to the life sciences section, Janice returned to the bridge for a mission update and, upon finding there were no new developments, logged out of her shift and retired to her quarters.
The beginning of the gamma shift next day, Janice dressed and made her presence on the bridge. She prided herself on punctuality, among other qualities that made her a thorough and dedicated yeoman. She’d considered briefly in her early 20s enlisting as an ensign in communications, but as a yeoman, she found she could help people much more than she ever could had she been a translator. Her exterior gave the impression of a competitive and scrupulous worker, but at the core of it, her real passion was people.
"Those requests from Scotty, sir," Janice greeted the captain upon entering the bridge. "Don’t forget to send those off."
Jim sighed miserably- it took him a second to process before he muttered under his breath (‘oh, thank god’) and sat up like a shot. His expression was almost gleeful as he snatched up the PADD, eager for something to do. “Rand,” he told her conversationally, “next time I tell you I should switch out my alpha rotation so I can reacquaint myself with the beta and gamma bridge crew, do remind me that I already dine and exercise with them, that they really don’t need supervision from their captain, and that mostly I hate it every time I mess with my schedule?”
It wasn't uncharacteristic of the captain to become fidgety without anything to do, but his eagerness struck her, and made the yeoman let out a low, sympathetic chuckle. "It gets dull," she agreed. "I know."
Having done her one and only assigned task for her shift, Rand turned towards the turbo lift to continue searching for work elsewhere before pausing and returning to her stance next to her captain's chair. "Well..." she began. "I'm sure I could find something for you to do." The yeoman threw a glance towards the rest of the bridge, quiet and still. "Not to say this isn't exhilarating."
"Which you’re great at," he said with a grin as he reached for the cup and took a sip of the tea. But his attention was still mostly on his project at hand, and he knew that Rand expected as much.
"No, I don’t think so. It’s pretty tame, actually," Sulu mused as he ran a finger down the long leaf of the plant. "No need to be so wary. Not all my plants bite," he chuckled.
"Tame is lame," Rand quipped with a sarcastic huff before leaving her position propped against the wall to browse the botanical displays and the tools Sulu used to treat them.
"Sulu, do you think you could teach me to be better at raising plants?" she asked. "I hate asking for help, so I even mention it if I just wasn't so desperate. You know, I used to have a fern in my room. Just a small thing next to the entrance. It died, obviously, but I don't know why. I watered it every day. Had an artificial light source and everything. You know how quickly it died? Four days. Four. How does someone kill a plant in four days?" She furrowed her eyebrows and crossed her arms again.
thewinningscenario replied to your post “Can you be yeoman to more than one person?”
They're a PA for a specific officer, not necessarily a captain. Spock, for example, should have his own Yeoman. Yeoman is a Navy position, looking that up is more accurate than the civilian-star-trek-fan edited memory alpha page ))
//listen to them not me lol
Can you be yeoman to more than one person?
A yeoman's job is to basically be an assistant for the captain plus other small jobs.//if you're thinking of making a yeoman rp blog you could read on memory alpha! they have all the info you need

Although Rand frequented the bridge more than any other place on the ship, a friendship, or even a conversation with Chekov had not extended beyond professional greetings. However, he was just as intriguing to her as he was, she was sure, to everyone else aboard the ship.
"Chekov," Rand began one day when curiosity struck her, "How old were you when you decided to enlist?"
Do you only serve Kirk? *curious anon*
My job first and foremost is to assist the captain, yes, but it's not the only thing I do. I bring coffee to friends to be nice, not because it's part of the job description.
"So are you gonna be Sherlock Holmes or what?”
"Will I be required to go trick or treat?"
"No... Yes... Maybe. I don't know. Have you ever even been trick or treating?"
Female John Watson /pokerface/ (Now we just need to convince Spock to be Sherlock)
Ask Spock to dress up as a human? Maybe you should report to sickbay captain. Also, I don’t think the crew would appreciate very much if I grew out my John Watson mustache.
He did quote him as one of his ancestors. And Holmes was dedicated to his weird scientific persuits over everything else. So, you know. Pretty decent fit. Might not be that hard.
You might be right. If there's anyone Spock could get down with, it's Homes. But I'm not gonna be the one to ask him. [pulls tips of ears up] "Halloween? The Terran holiday which recognizes the initiation of the triduum of Hallowtide?" Yeah, that's not a conversation that I want to get involved in. Thanks, but no thanks.

Sulu, engrossed in his work, barely noticed the doors opening to let Rand in. He did notice that the footsteps were headed towards him, however, and he lifted his gaze from the plant he was working with to see who it was. He blinked in surprise at the cup of tea, but his lips curled up in a small smile at the gesture.
"Thanks. You always have perfect timing," said the pilot with a smudge of dirt on his cheek.
"Timing is just part of the job," Rand remarked with a smile.
She crossed her arms and rested her shoulder against the wall as she watched the man bring his focus back to his project. "Will this one be as... feral as the last?"
Halloween is coming up soon. Send me an ask with what you think my muse should dress up as.
Bonus: If I like the idea, I might draw my muse in that costume.

The metallic to the Enterprise's life sciences department gracefully split apart as the yeoman entered with a steaming cup of tea. "Here," Janice said, placing it down a safe distance away from Sulu's numerous active plants. "I thought you could use this."

Returning shortly with his requested requisition forms and a cup of coffee fresh from the replicator, the yeoman stood three feet from the Captain’s chair and folded her hands behind her back. “Are there any other replaced items you need me to fetch?” Her voice held a playful tone, but the professionalism was present in her posture.
"You’re hilarious," Jim shot back blithely. his expression was pleasant, though. Their snarking wasn’t serious- otherwise they’d be having a very different issue. He lifted the cup towards her in thanks before taking a swig as he read through the forms.
On PADD, Scotty’s requests were totally ridiculous. He wouldn’t even approve them if the man hadn’t dragged him through decks babbling excitedly about what their lady could do with a little help from her dearest friend. (Hey, okay Scotty, whatever you say.)
He tucked the PADD into the hollow arm of his chair for more thorough perusal later, turning to look at her. “Remind me to send those off before the end of tomorrow’s shift.”
"Will do, sir."

"You’re the one who’s supposed to bring them to me in the first place!" he called after her. He huffed when he dropped back into the captain’s chair. Catching a smirk glanced over Sulu’s shoulder, Jim shook his head slightly, smiling.
