hi!! i’m filo, an aspiring irl magical hero!

as of right now, i haven’t formed a contract yet :< but, when the time comes, im hoping to document my experiences, encounters, and all i’ve learned on this blog! until then, ill mostly be using this account to learn as much as i can from other magical heroes ♪

my concept is, as you can probably tell, puella magi based! i want to make contact with the Law of Cycles and form a contract under her guidance. i remember reading somewhere on tumblr about a magical hero who turned witches back into magis, and i think that’s what i want to do. however, my concept is evidently very young and still developing; this isn’t final. so i’ll update soon~

if any of our interests align, i’d love to be friends! this account is quite new but i want to become very active on it ♪ also, im VERY VERY VERY open to any magical hero-related advice, tips, guidance, experiences, stories, concepts, methods, practices, designs, everything!!! i wanna hear what everybody has to say! diagnoses: i have been clinically diagnosed with depression, gad, social anxiety, and add. however, due to the ableist nature of past facilities i’ve been to, as well as my utmost masking when i was getting diagnosed so as to avoid being hospitalized, i suspect some others were overlooked ^^;

Gen Urobuchi has said that Stephen King's writing inspired aspects of Madoka, but I haven't found any follow-ups to the article I read where he specifies which King works inspired Madoka. And the few aspects that I could see inspiring the original anime are all tropes that King took from H.P. Lovecraft (Kyubey, the Witches, etc.).

But after re-reading Carrie, I do wonder if Carrie White may have had some influence on Kyouko. Both are girls associated with the color red (and fire, if only in visuals and not actual powers) who were raised by a religious parent who felt the modern church was no longer providing what was needed for the societal ills of today. In Margaret White's case, she thought the Baptist church she grew up in--and other Christian denominations--had been compromised by corruption (and were secretly conspiring with the "Godless" communists), but we never see exactly what Kyouko's dad felt was wrong with the modern church. Kyouko jokes that other people probably thought he was starting a cult, but we only really see Kyouko's perspective. Maybe he really was starting a cult, and Kyouko was too young to realize it. (In Carrie, Chris justifies her bullying of Carrie by saying that Carrie used to go around saying that everyone except her and her mom were going to Hell; that doesn't justify what Chris does to Carrie in the novel, but it explains why Carrie has no friends.)

And what do Carrie and Kyouko's parents do when they learn of their respective daughter's powers? Accuse them of witchcraft before going homicidal.

— My first Witch fight! —

Last night, I decided to enter a labyrinth for the first time and attempt to beat the witch that dwelled within. (I'll share my strategy for hunting witches soon!)

When I entered the labyrinth, there was a large dark hallway, similar to one you'd find in a castle, with intricate wall decor, dimly lit by candles along the wall and fireflies that flew around, that led up to an absurdly large door. I could sense an eerie and powerful presence behind the door, and I genuinely considered running away, lol.

After opening the door, I was met with a large room (if you could even consider it a 'room'...). Overall, the labyrinth seemed like the remnants of a castle of some sorts. There were collapsed walls and ceilings that seemed to be collapsing even more once I entered—like a sports stadium opening its roof—hallways on the far sides of the 'room', which most likely corridors to other rooms, and the star of the show; the witch that floated in the center of the room.

Holy shit, I didn't know why I hadn't expected them to be so terrifying and huge. It had six arms! ...Albeit, its main set of arms were significantly larger than its other four arms. I couldn't make out any of its specific features other than its large pointy witch hat, its arms, and its lack of legs— replaced by a large cone shape on the bottom.

The witch was shaped like an eight-pointed star almost, which made sense... since its familiars were small eight-pointed star shaped creatures with legs, wings, arms, a mouth and teeth! Considering how many star motifs were in the labyrinth, I didn't even need to guess that her name was "the witch of the eight-pointed star"... ߹-߹

Fighting it was extremely challenging. When I entered the main room, the witch INSTANTLY backhanded me, which launched across the room and crashing into a wall. I used my magic to divert its attention and began running away, but it had quickly focused once again and began to fire some sort of large scale magic beam at me.

For a bit, I was just hiding behind a wall and regaining my breath to decide what to do. I ended up deciding to just attack it and hope for the best (I know, genius plan), which ended up working decently. After slashing its lower half a couple times with my sword, I ended up relying on my magic, using my ultimate move to finish off the witch.

Its grief seed was located in its center, not its lower half, so I ran up a nearby staircase (did I mention the fact there were random staircases everywhere that were consistently moving around?) and acquired the grief seed.

After that, I left the labyrinth and fully returned to my physical body. I kept the grief seed in the astral for now, since I have no use for it currently.

Note to self: train stamina... because that was so exhausting.

hi everyone ☆ ever since making that intro post, i think i have the right to saying i’ve made a good amount of progress on this magical/spiritual journey!

i plan to make regular progress logs, where, after a set amount of time passed or enough things of note occur, i’ll post about it. i’m gonna try to post my first one tonight. it’ll be motivating for me, but i also hope they can give that motivation as well as some inspiration for others. i’ll also try to make up tags to keep my blog organized tonight.

until then, a brief summary of what i’ll write about: an official, stable concept, (but never finalized, since it develops by nature!) my established training regimen, the skills i plan to develop moving forward as a novice, potential past experience astral traveling as a magical girl, and signs/magical hero-related experiences i’ve had since my first post yesterday.
